One night split stay DME question

So we are booked At Polynesian for 6 nights with a split stay at Contemporary for 2 nights at the end of our trip. Was checking out airfare last night and it is $700 cheaper to fly out the night before after the kids get out of school. We are thinking why not book that flight and stay at Grand Floridian the night we fly in and catch all 3 monorail resorts on our stay. Since we will be getting in after 8 I was wondering if we can put in our flight information for our original res and take MDE to GF and have our luggage go to Poly and be held at guest services? We would pack suits and a change of clothes for GF then switch over after checkout.

I'm pretty sure your luggage would have to go the The GF,since that's where you are staying, then Bell services at GF would transfer it to the Polly the next day.

That was kind of my thought too. DW just mentioned if MDE is listed on the poly res and we don't sign up for it on the GF res would they take us and luggage to poly the night before check in ?

DME doesn't attach to your resort reservation in a pure sense. This is why when people post about having changed resorts but not getting new yellow tags, they are told not to worry. The barcode attaches to your My Disney Experience, kind of like a Magic Band. Delivery destination is based on scanning it, not what it says on it, and they will take the baggage to where you're supposed to be.

DME won't take you to GF and your luggage to Poly. Even if they could, that, IMHO, would be a recipe for a lost-luggage disaster. Because you are getting in so late and your luggage won't be delivered to your room for a few hours after check-in, I would, personally, pick up my own luggage at bag claim and bring it on the DME bus with us (they store it under the bus). Personally, I wouldn't want Bell Services knocking on my door at midnight - 1 am delivering luggage.

I did this once in 2015. I took a late flight and slept at POFQ, then Ubered to GF the next morning. My luggage was in my room when I got there.

Our other thought was possibly declining DME on the GF res and wondering if they would take us and luggage to Poly if we entered our flight info into online checkin for Poly and then take resort monorail over to GF. We will probably either use your suggestion and grab luggage ourselves, or just book at Poly the night before. Just liked the idea of hitting all 3 resorts on this trip (this is our first deluxe stay)

Did you bring DME into POFQ?

I put my tags on my luggage and left it at the airport. The tags said GF. My flight was scheduled to arrive at 10:40 pm. I boarded the DME to POFQ and slept there. I woke up, Ubered to GF and left my carry-on with bag services, then monorailed to MK by 6 am for the 24 hour event. I made several breaks to Sugar Loaf that day, so I'm not sure when my luggage arrived...
I honestly have no idea of my luggage's path. It could have traveled to POFQ first to meet me, then realized I was at GF...

Thanks for the info. We just booked our flight, just need to decide where to stay that night.

same here. AKL Lodge the night before, and my tagged luggage was brought to my room next day at Poly. No issues. They were all tagged with the second reservation.
