We are flying into Orlando in the early evening of our first day of vacation. We really don't want to pay for a (on property resort) for just a bed to sleep in. We also do not want to stay somewhere that is unclean or a long distance from WDW. This is our first trip to Orlando and we do not really know the area too well.

Has anyone stayed at the Days Inn Downtown Disney? Their rate is about $52.00 a night.

Please help us with suggestions as where we should stay for that first night. I will just be DH and myself. We will have a rental car so that is not an issue.

hah as a matter of fact that is what we did ,....except we drove...
we stayed at the days inn that im sure u are talking about....it was like 2 mintues to one of the property entrances...
just stay away...it was the crappiest place we have ever stayed at....we were in a room that was near the pool and there was mildew EVERYWHERE....as well as a nice puddle in the room cause there was alot of rain the day b4....what a treat huh?

it was bad......so the next time we do this we will just try to get into the all star if its a spur of the moment....we will just call them from georgia so we dont have to pay rack rates....

honestly i would not do it.....
funny how u mentioed that hotel.....glad i saw thread to try to stear u away

just goto the all star....well worth the extra 20.00

I would bid for a "resort" star property on priceline. Many times they accept that price range you're talking about. Just specify resort in the wdw neighborhood under Orlando.

Spend the night at one of the Disney value resorts and you'll feel like your vacation has started, instead of feeling like it is ALMOST HERE! You might even be able to get a code and have it be the same price or cheaper than staying off site! :)

Happy planning!

If you are an AP holder then one night in a value would be $69 using code EWP assuming there is any rooms left at that rate.

If you are not then try code BAT for $74 per night. That is open to anyone but the rooms may be gone.

Thank you for asking this question we were considering the same DTD hotel, but we booked POFQ in December.

Biddingfortravel will help alot - here's the link:

You can get a 3* hotel for between $40 and $45. The Sheraton Safari had been coming up alot which is great hotel and lately it's been the Radisson Worldgate for around $42. I've never stayed at this one, but have always had good luck with Priceline!!

Hope this helps!!! :teeth:

I agree!::yes::

Hi...I second Priceline 3 star...we have always had great luck and stayed in great places for 38 to 40 dollars/night...do "disney vicinity only" and you will be close...

have a great time

Ted

That's good advice.

I always stay at the Holiday Inn Family Suites. They've always got rooms available, and they have a great breakfast. It's not cheap tough. I think I usually pay $99.

We usually roll in during the early morning hours, get a room with a king bed for us and bunks for the kids. We get up and pig out at the buffet, and then it's off to start our vacation.

At some point I'll get smart and realize that I cannot wait for my vacation to start and I'll book an extra day in advance. My last three trips I drove down the day before I had planned to get there, even though my arrival times were 12:30A, 3:00A and 5:00A. I was happy knowing that I was already there, and I made my HI FS ressies from the car on the way. :)

How about the Marriott properties at Little Lake Bryan? Not far from the World and nice, clean properties. Our stay at the Courtyard for a few days was great. There also is a Fairfield and one more....I think a SpringHill Suites???

I agree with the value resort on property and have no idea why I didn't say that along with priceline advice. Value would be my first choice, then if you can't do that try priceline and stay in the resort or 3 star category. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree once for the night prior to onsite and our kidlings loved it, FIFS always gets great reviews as well as the Sheraton Safari mentioned. Best of luck, let us know!

I just got a rate of $64 at the Fairfield at the Marriott Village, which is not even a mile south of the Days Inn near DTD. It's brand new, clean, convenient, and they have a free continental breakfast. It's our favortie off site hotel!

Thank you all for all the suggestions. There were several great suggestions as well as some advise of "stay away". We took the advise of several of you and made a reservation at Pop Cent. I was able to get a discount with the pin code sent in e-mail.

We have a room, on Disney property for $55.00 a night, including tax. I couldn't be happier. DH is happy too. He doesn't have to drive a long distance the next morning to get to The Mouse. :earboy2:
