We are getting in the night before we check into our hotel on WDW property. We are now going to get in now in the evening the night before. Any ideas of where we can stay. We will not be using the hotel amenities, just sleeping. We may go down to DTD to walk around. I have seen a best western close to there? I dont know anything about any of the hotels.

Any help would be appreciated.

since you're looking for a good deal, try using hotwire. You can find really good deals in the DW area at 3 and 4 star hotels. That way you save money but aren't staying somewhere seedy. I just saw they have some at $49 - $69dollars a night.

Not sure if this is in your range but I just stayed at the Wingate Inn at the airport. I got it for $105 a night (normally $150). It was nice, clean, and the staff was friendly. Didn't take us too long to get to DTD either.

Ditto, that is what I am going to do.. Although I am tempted beause what I think it Gaylord Palms is $110 on hotwire.:cloud9:

We just returned from 1 week staying there (April 2009). I booked through my credit card points reward program for some nights and paid for others. So even though the room was cheap, it still wasn't worth it. We were expecting an older motel, which this is. We just weren't expecting the indifference of the front desk staff or the safety problem or the bad maintenance and cleaning.

Do be aware that this hotel does not use fitted sheets. We were constantly straightening the bed due to the lack of fitted bottom sheets--which means that you and who knows how many other travellers were sleeping on that same bare mattress, after the bottom sheet got twisted and pulled up in the middle of the night.

As for safety issues, if you have young children, don't let them turn on the faucets. My child got burned 2x, due to the water temp being set too high. We had 3 rooms during the stay (they made us move, as they had booked our room during the middle of our stay), and all had water temp issues. There were also loose towel racks, wobbly faucets, weirdly placed outlets (behind one pillow!), and other problems. The guest checking out ahead of us had things stolen.

Also, the hotel does not honor their posted resort fee. We booked through the Howard Johnson site, agreeing to a $2.50 resort fee. The hotel charges more, and won't honor the booked rate.

We stay our travel night at Knight's Inn, on 192, just west of World Drive. It's about $42 with tax. Both times the rooms were clean. It shows it's age, but it's cheep. And it's walking distance to plenty of food.
