One night for a memorable family experience

One night - which option for a Disney magical family experience?

  • Sci Fi Dine In

  • 50's Prime Time Cafe

  • Brown Derby

  • Le Cellier

  • Chefs de France

  • San Angel Inn

  • snack around Epcot World Showcase

  • other option (reasons would be great!)

We'll be traveling to WDW this spring on a mini-family reunion trip. We are a group of 6 adults, 4 of whom are Disney veterans, & 2 who are not. The non-Disney veterans are a couple in their mid/late 60s; one has not been to Disney since just after Epcot opened, and the other has never been. They like fine dining & different international foods, but they also like classic comfort food. This couple will only be able to join the trip for 2 nights, so I'm working on making their trip as special and memorable as possible. We already have reservations for Jiko the first night, which they are excited about because they traveled to Africa years ago.

I'm trying to decide what to do on their second (final) night at WDW. I'd like for them to enjoy something that is more along the lines of a fun/magical Disney dining experience, since we will have covered the fine dining side of things the night before. I also want to try to get them as much of the park experience as possible, and hopefully win them over to Disney fandom. :cool1:

We will spend the day they arrive at MK, first night at AKL for Jiko, probably the following morning at AK, and are considering either DHS or Epcot for the final night. There may be a few hours the morning they fly out to hit a ride or two in whichever park we miss, but that's not guaranteed.

My question is, what would you do if you had one night to show this couple a magical Disney dining experience?

I voted for San Angel Inn because I was thinking you ment La Hacienda de San Angel which the newish place outside the Mexico pavilion with Illuminations viewing. I would go there or Rose and Crown and watch Illuminations. Or some place like California Grill and watch Wishes.

I agree-California Grill and Wishes would be better than what's in the poll.

I vote for Biergarten in the World Showcase. It easily handles large groups, and it appeals to all ages. We have had big family groups there before, and that usually comes out as a trip highlight.

I think snacking around World Showcase would be a great idea. That way they get to see and experience more of the the park with the limited amount of time they have.

Well I voted for other option because I would do HDDR but I also think snacking around the world would be fun

Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue Dinner Show!

If you can swing that into your plans & schedule; I think it's a great family interactive, silly-fun evening! Fun for all ages!

OR, our group has always enjoyed the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show at Polynesion.....

Dinner & Entertainment is our way to go!

Depending on your group, Whispering Canyon in Wilderness Lodge is Memorable and Interactive...

From the choices you listed however, I would vote on 50s Prime Time for FUN

And

Le Cellier for a delicious, well served meal

Too many good options at DISNEY !!
Happy Eating !!:tilt::mickeyjum:goofy:

Of the choices, I picked snack around the world because it would allow for them to see much of the park. In addition, they would get to taste many foods from various places. I do like 50's at DHS if you get a fun server then it would be a laugh.

Of the choices, I'd go with Brown Derby or Le Cellier, with Chefs being a distant third choice. Of those, we had the best experience at Le Cellier, but I know some people don't find it to have much ambience and/or find it to be cramped (or just can't get reservations!).

What about Teppan Edo? We had a great meal there this past October. My picky daughter even ate zucchini and mushrooms -- and loved them!

Snacking around the world can be great, but some stops can be a miss. Just not sure it would wow them. You could always skip dessert at dinner, and swing by Norway or France for a pastry and coffee (or adult beverage) to top off the evening.

The best restaruant u have listed there to me is the Derby followed by the San Angel Inn, but my vote is to snack around the WS

To me, however, I might be Teppan Edo. Its great. I also love Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Kona Cafe at the Poly. Both are amazing

I voted other.

Reason being - you said your first day would be MK, then to Jiko for supper. I am assuming you are not spending the evening then in MK???

If not, I don't think any trip to WDW, especially a first one, is complete without watching the fireworks from MK.

So, I vote for Ohana dinner then a stroll to the beach to watch the fireworks.

(If you are watching Wishes at MK first day, then my next vote would be something in Epcot, to watch Illuminations afterwards.)
