Is it hard to stay off site and get to and from the race site easily? My sister wants to stay off site b/c she will be driving down. It would be a bit cheaper. Has anyone driven? How is it?

Hi

I drove to the princess last year, it was definitely cheaper, we did have a few problems but they can be easily avoided.

So here is my story, We stayed around the crossroads junction (I dont know if you know the area but its the other entrance to Disney, it is nr downtown Disney) and we got our race manuals and they said that we should take exit 67 to get to Epcot off the I4 and me being my pig head, I know Disney better than anyone else self, said that was a silly route for us because we would be driving back on ourselves, so we set off at stupid oclock in the morning headed past downtown Disney, turn to the right and Epcot is right there right??? :rotfl:wrong, the reason it told us to go the other way was that that exit was the only one that would not be closed at 3AM for the race. So this lead us to drive around in the middle of the night around the back roads of WDW to find a way back into Epcot! to make a long story (and drive) short, we had to find our way back onto the I4 to get to the 67 exit that would take us to Epcot, it took us nearly an hour and a half!!! :scared1:then by the time we got there we were stuck in awful traffic to get in and I ending up jumping out the car running to the start line to make it in time for the race.

So my advice is go for it!!! no seriously, if you listen to the directions given in your race guide thingy and get up nice and early to avoid traffic and complications, it will save you and awful lot of money, plus during the princess only 3 hotels offered transport to the race so if you dont get one of those then you have to drive anyway, and if you do get one that has transport you have to get up extra early and stand in line for a bus, and why do that when you could be standing in line for a porta potty :lmao:

Hope you enjoy the race, it was awesome last year.

Kirsty

What time do you recommend leaving to get there before traffic if we did stay offsite?

If I recall correctly the race started at 5.30 and we left inbetween 3.30 and 4AM. :scared1:
