It's my understanding that your starting corral is assigned based on your anticipated finish time, with those finishing faster put closer to the front (this is why you need proof if you say anything under 5 hours (for the full -- can't remember what the proof level is for the 1/2) so that they make certain that the competitive runners will be up front. It's tempting to list a low finish time in order to be closer to the front, but my advice is don't (unless you know you can do that) because you will be surrounded by competitve runners who will either run you down or wil give you nasty looks for holding them up. If you can go fast, great, enter the time you know you can compete in.
All I can advise is that you give it your best guess. Do you think you'll make a 15 minute mile? If so, do the math and put in that time (not sure if you're doing the 1/2 or full, so don't know how long that would be). Are you aiming for the bare minimum 16 min. mile? Or do you think you'll be able to get up to speed of a 12 min mile or lower? Only you know your body and how fast you can realistically go. Sorry I can't be much more help than that.
I didn't put anything for that since this is my first time doing anything like this. Should I have put something down?? I figured they would stick me in the last corral anyway.
We put 3:10, probably near the end which is ok by me. I think if you didn't put anything you will be at the end. But it doesn't matter because you are timed from when YOU cross the start line.
