One more DME question

--My friend wants to use DME on her check out date to go to the airport but not to catch a flight-- she needs to pick up a rental car to drive to Naples, Fl to visit family. Can she do that? Do they check your luggage automatically or can you retrieve it from the bus. I vaguely remember gathering my luggage at the curb but I could be wrong. TIA!

You don't have to check your luggage for the trip back to the airport. In fact, many airlines are not part of the service so there are plenty of folks hauling their own bags back to MCO.

However, if she decides to rent from Alamo, she can pick up a car at either the Dolphin, or the Car Care Center, and there's no need to go to the airport. Just anothe option to look at.

I believe the driver of ME checked our booklet we received to confirm that we had "reservations" for a return trip back to the airport, the same way they check at the airport for the bus ride over. We swam and checked our luggage in the luggage area and then had it loaded onto the bus and once at the airport we were on our own with the luggage.

You can bring your luggage onboard ME for the return trip, in fact as PP's mentioned some passengers have no other choice. The driver will load them under the bus and retreive them at MCO.

However, ME must be reserved in advance. If she is taking ME from the airport to the resort she can use her flight info for the first leg. Then for the ride back to MCO to get the car she needs to find a flight leaving at the right time. ME picks up passengers 3 hours prior to the flight time so she can plan her timing that way.

Although as previously mentioned she can get a rental car at the Dolphin or the Car Care Center (Alamo) or at one of a few places close to DTD.
