One Millionth U.S. soldier comes through Bangor International Airport!

Since the beginning of the war Bangor has had "Troop Greeters" who meet incoming flights of soldiers- they give them cell phones to call family and tell them how appreciated they are... doesn't matter what day or time of day the flight comes in! True patriots!!

A couple of weeks ago I was at the airport waiting for my flight, when some troops came through. I had the opportunity to stand in line and shake their hands! It was a wonderful and moving experience!

Recently I saw a television program about these airport greeters and it made me tear up. It is a pretty wonderful thing they do.

My son had the opportunity to be welcomed by them. They took some nice pictures of him and his dog (he's K-9) and they emailed them to me.
It's just wonderful what they do for our soldiers.

It is so wonderful how they meet every flight. I have gone to be a greeter and found it to be such a moving experience.

Hooray for more troops making it safely home.

I just watched the documentary called "The Way We Get By" that profiled some of the people who volunteered as greeters for the troops. It was very touching picture that I immediately told everyone about. It was available to watch instantly on Netflix at the time. If anyone is interested, here's a link to the website about the film.
