One Man's Dream closing for a preview ;(

OP said:
"everyone should remember how Disney was started…or maybe heads of Disney don't want people to remember how and why it started because it goes against what they are doing with Disney now"

I'm the OP and that quote you stated wasn't to mean that I believe that Walt is a selfless hero or a saint; however, I also disagree with your characterization that appears to make him out to look like a very evil person. Walt had his good and bad parts but he did create a park that was innovative with quality rides. My belief, which you may disagree with, is that corporate greed now a days is cutting more and more corners in the parks. In a few years, I may be eating my words when all the new expansions open but I think the heads of Disney let Disney fall to disarray for too long before they decided to do something to give new life to the parks.

btw the point of this thread was not to debate who Walt was or was not. The point was that I don't agree with taking a piece of the history of Disney, regardless how inaccurate you find it, and close it to show a preview for a Disney movie that doesn't even look that good.

I actually do think Walt was a pretty bad person overall (his own niece says so), though he certainly had some good qualities. And he was far more "greedy" than the current corporation. (Check his relations with organized labor, his cooperation with McCarthyism).
Now, you're certainly entitled to your opinions. And I have no interest in a drawn out debate regarding Walt.
I do suggest it is a good history lesson of what a despicable person Walt was, in many ways. But considering the real history of the real Walt, the current corporate "greed" pales in comparison of Walt's corporate greed. So the factual truth is -- Disney doesn't try to erase Walt. They do the exact opposite -- promote a whitewashed semi-fictional version of Walt. Now, you object to them shutting down this semi-fictional attraction. But I am curious, how would you feel if they replaced it with the true story of Walt.. "One Man.. Visionary.. Racist.. Sexist.. Greedy... But amazing imagination."

Honestly, what I like to see is how WDW/Disney came to be. It wouldn't bug me if they told the "true" story of Walt…however, it would probably upset many parents with children. I like the little bit of history in the theme park and while it may not tell the whole story, it may get someone interested in knowing the whole story.

I think my objection is more they are closing it for a movie preview. I hope it always stays in DHS but when they do close it, which I figure is inevitable, I hope it is for something decent and not a movie preview.

I always agree that attractions should only change for the better ;)

To reference the OP, I was very upset when I found out they were replacing the movie with a trailer for the Good Dinosaur. Mostly because I was there for my first visit 2 years ago and didn't take the time to go see it. Poor planning and lack of knowledge. We are heading back this November and I was planning to rectify this error. I also missed out on the Animation area which recently shut down. I'm upset with myself for not doing them when I had the chance. I watched the video on UTube, and was not particularly impressed by it. I hope to get to see the exhibits while I am there, because I am pretty sure they will not be there when, if, I ever get back. With all of the changes about to take place at DHS, including the mysterious name change, I can't see much of a desire to return while the park is in chaos. I am thrilled I will get to see Osbourne Lights as this is one of the main draws for coming during the Christmas season. If they had cancelled that for this year I would probably not bother going to DHS during this trip.

As to the poster with the serious hate on for Walt, I suggest he find another forum or thread for his vitriol as none of the other nice posters on this thread seem to be interested in his stated opinion. When I read his first post I was afraid to continue with this thread as I thought it might devolve into Walt bashing, I am glad it has not. Enough said.
