One long trip or a few short ones in the year?

What do you prefer? A few long weekends throughout the year or a nice long week (or more).

Dh and I have always disagreed about this. I prefer a week or longer (even 2 weeks wouldn't be too long for me). He likes frequent but short weekend trips. He thinks long trips are too exhausting, I think it would be more relaxing because you can hang out at the resort, mosey around the parks, basically not have to worry about rushing here and there to do everything the kids (and their parents) want to do within a couple of days. :thumbsup2 We just went for a 3 day trip in April and I was much more worn out than after our previous 6 day April trip (granted I was 7 months pregnant but the trip just felt too rushed this time)

I'm with you!

In my opinion longer trips have many advantages including being much more economical. Less travel time translates into more time having fun. You also save on transportation costs. For instance if you have a total of 15 vacation days all in a row you only pay to travel once. If your 15 days are split into 3-5 trips you are traveling as many as 10 days out of the 15! Think of all those extra hours on the road (or the plane!)

We try to take 2 week vacations whenever possible.

In February we went away for 2 weeks with 3 other families. Three of the four families thought it was glorious but the 4th family thought it was way to long to be away from home, work etc... Different strokes I guess! :confused3

I can't afford multiple trips (heck, I can't afford any trips) but one longer one a year feels more relaxing to me that a weekend trip. I don't feel so rushed. I have done both and the weekend trips leave me feeling a little shorted. If I had to vote. Week long trip!

I love both. One long trip for a week, then 2 short weekend trips to take the egde off of everyday life.

Both!

We make one long trip (usually 8-10 nights) and then many, many short ones ranging from 2-4 nights throughout the year. But, we only live 250 miles away from WDW.

But, if I didn't have that opportunity it would depend on the total number of nights. If I had 6 or fewer, I'd make one trip. But, if I could do 7 or more nights, I'd split it in two.

We did a combo of one two week trip in August and three other five day weekend trips in May, December, and this April-May, and it worked out great. We wouldn't have been able to do it without our annuals though. We live in CT.

I prefer one longer trip. If we lived closer, I mght change my mine though. We are currently in MA. We usually take a two week vacation. We spend 4 to 5 total days driving (my DH loves car trips) and then stay Disney for 10 nights. If we were a few hours away, I could see getting into the shorter trips though. We don't like to spend the entire day in the parks though. We like the longer trips so that we can do everything at a slower pace.

It probably depends on where you live. I live two hours away and we take frequent, 3 or 4 day trips. I like it because I always have a trip coming up. Because we go so often I don't have to worry about squeezing in a whole lot of stuff in every trip. I know I'm going back and I'll catch what I missed the next time. And if I really need a fix, I can make a day trip out of it.

Hmmm...I can see it being both ways. Once long trip to look forward to throughout the year. But, the thing I dislike is leaving and knowing you will not be back for a year. I get sad when we leave, but I take comfort in knowing I will be back before long. I prefer a couple medium trips, I guess.

BOTH!!! We are making one long trip this year for 9 nights, and have already made 5 short weekend trips.

We are also taking a 4 night trip in August!!!

We live 11 hours away, but that won't stop us! :cool1:

I prefer a long stay. I can see all I want, and not feel rushed. I don't visit regularly, and have to get a good 'fix' of Disney, when I do go. Although, I'd like to make, at least, a yearly trip of it!

I think both choices are great.. Sometimes little trips are so worth while because you have one to look forward to after a few short weeks/months. I also love long vacations because its sometimes you need a little longer then a weekend. Either way you can never go wrong..
