One last tipping question before I leave, please.

I am going to do park and ride at an offsite airport parking facility for the first time tomorrow. Should I tip the shuttle driver? If so, how much. It will be me and my daugher with a total of 3 bags.

I'd give him $2 if he loads/unloads the bags from the shuttle for you. If not, I wouldn't tip at all.

We always tip $1 per bag, and if they are large we'll throw another $1-2 at him.

The tipping standard seems to have risen to $2 a bag lately.

I only tip if they deal with my luggage. If I have to deal with it then all tips are off. (Which is why the valet at my airport only gets tipped about 50% of the time!)

IMHO, $2/bag is a lot if all they do is haul your bags up and down the stairs of the shuttle. I've never had a driver do more than carry my bag down the steps and set it on the curb for me.

When I board the shuttle I usually get my bags out of the trunk myself while I wait for the shuttle to pick us up. Under those circumstances, I think $2 for 2 or 3 bags is plenty.


I do tip the curbside skycaps more if I use their service - and it's usually more than $2/bag, especially if I only have one or 2 bags.

Well at my offsite place, they haul the luggage out of my trunk for me so... maybe the service is better.

At the airport location, they do very little and I sometimes compromise with $3 for my two bags. (I have a challenging truck! LOL!)
