One hour wait for AK bus

at Contemporary. 4 MK, 3 DS, 3 EPCOT. Had to go inside before a bus was sent. Ridiculous. No EXCUSE!

Geez I didn't even know they sent MK buses to the contemporary. But yeah that's ridiculous... I'm fortunate that we drive everywhere in WDW because that would have put me over the edge

Monorail is down. MK and EPCOT ..priority over AK. Buses were diverted.

I think that's typical to or from HS service for any monorail resort.

Yep this is why we will never deal with buses again staying at BLT. We drive or rent or a car. When the monorail was down in December there was no communication about it and buses were a mess. One morning we waited like 45 minutes for a DHS bus and there was probably 5 busloads of people waiting for one.

That's why I avoid Disney buses like the plague. I was at a CBR stop waiting for a bus to MK at 5:40 AM (rope drop was at 6) with a huge group of people, some of whom had been there since 5. So basically no buses had come to that stop to get people for rope drop. We turned around and got in the car. I usually drive everywhere, but thought I'd give the bus a chance since it was MK and when you drive, you still have to take the monorail or boat. Busing to MK is faster IF the bus comes to get you!!

Did they offer any kind of compensation for wasting your time?

disney says allow up to 90 minutes to get anywhere on their transportation, if a bus came in an hour then it's in their guidelines for using transportation as they got there in 90..

but I agree, it was horrible to have to say something to get a bus.. that was a screw up by someone. Last time I saw somethign like this was back in 2014 and the 2 hour lines at HS at closing to get to pop when all other bus stops and guests were long gone... they actually made a lot of improvements after that night and this is the first screw up I've heard of since.

Is there any advance warning if the monorail is down? One of the main reasons we are staying at the contemporary is the monorail. Might rethink it and stay at an Epcot resort instead.

In my mind the real issue is that no one was keeping those waiting for a bus informed. We had a situation in June where we could not get a MK bus at Riverside. It wasn't an hour, but something like 40 minutes, but it was almost laughable as empty bus after empty bus to the other 3 parks and Disney Springs came and went (3-4 each) while the board just kept adjusting the MK bus arrival time by 5-7 minutes every so often. When it finally came, with the crowd at just our stop (and keep in mind Riverside has 4 stops) it took two buses to get everyone on.

Been on many trips where we use resort transportation only. These things do happen very occasionally, but never enough to make it worth stressing over, in my opinion.

This is the reason why I rent a car because that would've driven me bananas. Even if the buses are running well and you're only having to wait 10 - 15 minutes, I can still drive just about anywhere on property before a bus rider has left the grounds of their own resort.

If the monorail was done and buses had to be diverted, then I can see how this type of situation could occur. But understanding to the situation or not, it would still really put a damper on my day to wait that long.

Wait....4 MK buses??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? Contemporary is right across the street from MK for petesake! They seriously had buses to MK? And people took them?
