.... to Royal Ascot on wednesday, for ladies day on thursday!
any pundits out there with any tips?

Have a really lovely time - I'd love to go to Ascot Ladies Day.

Thanks Gill, it'll be great fun as theres twenty of us on a hen weekend! (well hen break really seeing as its mid week!)
I'm just unsure about the betting side of things - I've only ever gambled on the slots in Vegas and am not certain what you do at the races!

... Yes. Don't bet. The bookmaker always wins; I've never heard of a poor one!

[offtopic][rant]Besides, horse racing is cruel and only exists so bookmakers & the government can profit from it.[/offtopic][/rant]

Me too, I hope you have a great time. We're all off to Warwick Races on Sunday for family day, and I hope I do as well as I did in the Grand National :)

Oh Such a shame you're not there on thursday Sue - we could have had a mini dis meet (and that would go down really well with the hen party! :rotfl2: )

Have a great time

In my limited experience of betting at the races I would advise

1) bet on the horse/jockey with the best colour scheme

2) Don't get totally trollied whilst betting (a mate from work did on a work jolly and thought he'd won the accumulator (?) He was jacking in his job and telling his boss what he thought of him, leaving his wife and I am told took some convincing that he hasn't won a bean! Just wish I could have seen that!)

:lmao: thats probably what will happen to me!! and we're already convinced we'll go for the horse with the prettiest colours/name etc

That's precisely what a colleague did at a day out at Cheltenham last year and he won more than the rest of us put together. :teeth:

You will have a great time I went there for a corporate event two years back before it closed for refurbishment.

I do not know anything about horse races at all, but before i went I read 'The Sun' and placed all the sun tips as small bets. I did well not as much as some people won a few lost a few, but had slighlty more cash in my pocket when I went home than when the day started and therefore was very happy.

Have a good one

We are off to Ascot on Friday. When we were last at Ascot I won about £350, £150 of which was won on the coach as I chose the most winners. My friend gave me a tip to bet on horses trained by Godolphin and Mark somebody - sorry can't remember his last name.

Ok Clare I'll go for all the horses trained by Mark Something-or-other! :rotfl2:
