Before I begin, ANOTHER, tedious and ulcer-inducing trippie. I feel the need to tell y'all a few lil tidbits.
And introduce the Cast of Characters:
One happyhaunt aka Red happyhaunt ~ That would be Me(l) aka me. I was the Red happyhaunt. For reasons which will become clearer a little later. When I post some pictures tonight.
Two happyhaunt aka Blue happyhaunt ~ That would be my son, Tommy happyhaunt aka Bama, Swufty, Conga, and Swutty Puffiler. He was a lil blue, too. This trip. He had a few moments of missing the other three happyhaunts. And our new kitten. But, don't worry, because... mostly he was YELLOW ~ the Colour (Canadian style!) of Happiness! This whole trip. And, I believe, grew in some amazing ways. Also... I really SPOILED him ROTTEN. It was all good. Right up to returning home and breakfast today... when he requested a Frozen Coke and a Mickey Chocolate Bar. And an Iced Cherry Poptart.
SHUDDER!
Three, four and five happyhaunts ~ Not along on this trip to The World. October 4th to the 9th, 2006. They went North, instead. To spend Canadian Thanksgiving with our relatives and friends at our cottage. And, yet, they were still with us in many ways. Throughout our little trip. Plus on the phone. And on the phone and, again, on the phone. With us. They were with us in spirit. If not in the flesh.
Mel #2 ~ Because we always have to travel in pairs. Like shoes and socks and horns. We are not complete without two Mels. So Tommy brought along his little Beanie Baby Koala named Mel. For real. It's on the freakin' tag. He brought it along to remind him of both his brother and his father. He doesn't need to bring something along to remind him of his older sister. She is always on his mind. And it made me feel happy and sad a whole bunch of times. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
The General ~ not along. Whew.
Boddington ~ our new kitten. Also not on the trip. Speaking of Boddington... he joined our family recently to replace our hamster, Pepper, who is now six inches under. The ground in our backyard. Boddington is our new TR good luck charm. And, therefore, must be mentioned in the intro. To keep this train wreck on course. So to speak.
We were also under-packed and over-amped.
One small suitcase and plenty of expectations.
For our trip to The World.
The background is this: A number of months ago. In May, I believe, I realized that there was to be a new character meal at Disney Studios. At Hollywood and Vine. The LITTLE EINSTEINS. Tommy's favourite show at the moment. He calls it the "Little Heinsteiners". TFI. I mentioned one fateful evening to my husband that it was too bad that it wasn't available when we were there earlier in the month. I believe it was slated to start the following month in June. We got talking and he suggested I use some of our DVC points and take Tommy to WDW... ALONE! To have some one on one time with him and take him to see the Heinsteiners. He said that Tommy often gets the short end of the happyhaunt stick. He gets dragged around according to everyone else's schedules and busy lives. Being the youngest. And not knowing how to fend properly for himself. It seems, often, that life rarely revolves around HIM. So... we thought about it for awhile. And then ran it by the other two happyhaunt siblings. Who were, to our great surprise, in favour of the whole deal. Providing... OF COURSE... that I also take each of the two of them. Alone. In the next two years. For a trip which would be all about THEM.
Okay, then.
I jumped at the chance to go back to Disney. So soon.
Mellyman jumped at the chance to use some of our DVC points up and not be included in it. And, also, to save money by going as a group of TWO... not FIVE.
Oh. He LOVES going to Disney. Be not confusselled. But... once a year for seven to ten days is plenty for him. He's not obsessed with it. Unlike Me(l).
Plus... the timing worked with his vacation schedule. As it fell around Canadian Thanksgiving. He would just need to take one extra day off. Which is all he had left of this year's holiday days. Anyhow. He'd take the other two kids up North. To spend the extended long weekend with our family. There. And have their own blast. Of sorts.
What I'm trying to say is this: He is a GOOD MAN. A generous and considerate husband and father.
I'm also trying to say this: I'm very lucky to have him in my life. We all are.
Finally... what I mean is: It was almost a WHOLE WEEK... without Me(l). In his face. Something of true value. To look forward to. Heh heh.
So... that's a little of the back story.
More to come. Later, today, when I get the pictures downloaded.
But, by early Wednesday morning Tommy and I were ready to ROLL TIDE! And do a little Disney Adventuring of our own.
Two happyhaunts under-packed... actually not even packed by that point... over amped and ready to take on The World.
And...learn a few things about each other. In the process.
So, sit back... WAY BACK... hands and feet in and safety belt buckled.
Because... DRIVER ~ WE ARE CLEAR!!!!
Cheers, Mel.
