Ok...I have been trying to make my dinner reservations for my trip Nov 26- Dec 1. I am going solo and entered one guest when making my ressies online. I was hoping to go to California Grill....but no go. I decided to experiment and show two guests vs one and see if I got different choices...Guess what...I got ALOT more choices. I was able to find a ressie for California Grill on 11/28. I went ahead and made the reservation but am worried something might be said when I show up alone. Has anyone else had this happen? :confused3

At Cali Grill, you will be charged a cancellation penalty for only showing up with 1 if you booked for 2. So while that could work for MANY restaurants, it doesn't work for those that have the cancellation penalty policy / credit card hold.

That is a good point Vicki....I guess I am out of luck then....Thanks for sharing...I would hate to have to pay the extra $20.

What if you made the ressie for 2, then called a cm by phone to change it to one?

I've not done this, but people have said that you can go up to the bar/waiting area of CG and order from the menu to dine there. The bar doesn't take reservations and as long as it's not crowded (avoid Wishes time), you'll be able to go up there.

try calling by phone. last year I had a ressie for 4, that needed to drop to 2 and was easily able to do so via the phone.

For some reason getting a reservation for one is harder than two sometimes. This is especially true of the Signature restaurants. I know Jiko is another one that usually only has tables for two or more online. If you call, the CM should be able to book it though. When going solo, I've had to call several times to get into California Grill, Jiko, or even Citricos when I couldn't get the table size I needed, yet when I get there I've always been seated at a table for two or sometimes even for four.:confused3:rotfl:

I can tell you from personal experience that if you show up short for restaurants that require a credit card guarantee they will charge you for the no show. We were once charged at Akershus when we were one short. I was sick that morning so didn't go with my family. We were charged for one no show, despite the rest showing up and explaining the situation.
