Your thoughts please? The menu at Boma sounds marvelous but the Ohana experience sounds fun!

This may be a moot point as I have to find out if we can get DS into one of the childcare centers onsite without staying there. Cross fingers!

I would vote for Ohana. I wouldn't want to go to a buffet for my grown up adult dinner. Go to Ohana where they will serve you and you can enjoy each other's company more.

I've done both and the food at Boma is much better. This is just my opinion though. 'To each his own' and all that. 'Ohana has a lot of devoted supporters here but I wasn't thrilled with the meats there. They all were overly smoked and all tasted the same. Boma has much more variety.....and it tastes good! 'Ohana was loud and crowded while Boma was not as loud and was a little roomier. My mother and I really enjoyed Boma.

Frankly, I say none of the above. Why not try one of the more "adult" restaurants?

Yachtsman Steakhouse (Yacht Club)
Artist Point (Wilderness Lodge)
Jiko - The Cooking Place (Animal Kingdom Lodge)
Flying Fish Cafe (Boardwalk)
California Grill (Contemporary Resort)
Narcoossee's (Grand Floridian)

Both Ohana and Boma are excellent restaurants with top notch food. Some people don't care for the african style foods of Boma but we found the selection more than ample. Part of the selection will change each day.

Both restaurants are somewhat family oriented but of the two I would say Ohana is better for adults. While Boma is not a character kids buffet it will have lots of kids darting about getting their food. Ohana the food comes to you. Window seats at Ohana provide a very nice view of Magic Kingdom, especially during Wishes.

Both are very family oriented and loud. I wouldn't do either, honestly. 'Ohana has games for kids and is all around family. Boma is a bustling family friendly buffet.

Go someplace that is not as suited for a child or a family with children. Like, Kona. Great food but the atmosphere is nothing a child would care about. Or Jiko, across from Boma. Yachtsman, Artist Point, Flying Fish, GF Cafe (if they aren't doing the character meals for 1900 Park Fare), Concourse. All places that are much more adult friendly and worth the money to put the child in the child care facility.

I vote for Boma. I think the menu there is a bit exotic, hence, more adult. Also, if you're looking to find Polynesian/tropical/Hawaiian food at Ohana, you'll be dissapointed. It's not even close!

I totally agree. Our favorite grown up restaurant is Artist Point. We've put our kids in the Cub's Den at the WL and they loved it. In fact, they didn't want to leave!

We've eaten at both Boma and Ohana, and while they are both good, they are more family oriented, with Ohana being moreso. Ohana has all of the games, limbo, coconut races, etc. Boma has great food, but lacks atmosphere (at least of the romantic, focus on each other kind!)

If you are looking for fantastic food and grown-up atmosphere, try Artist Point!

We love O'Hana's, but not for a dinner away from the kids. Too much kiddo activity in this restaurant. I would definitely go, but with the kid. Boma's is at the bottom of our list. Our family just didn't enjoy it at all. It's also kind of loud. If I were doing a night out with the husband, it would be Artist Point, Jiko's, or one of the other restaurants I've seen posted in this thread.

Hi,

You should be able to book your son into one of the childcare centers even if you are not staying at that resort. People staying at the moderates and values can book the childcare centers so I do not see why you would not be able to.

But, for a truely nice adult meal experaince why not try Jiko. It is amazing.

I would add that i have brought my kids to both of those places and they loved them, I would pick a different restaurant, for a grown up dinner.

I would definately go to Boma over Ohana. Ohana is great but there are alot of activities geared towards kids and its very loud.

We did our grown ups night out at Boma last year and really enjoyed it. The food is wonderful- and its nice to go up to a buffet and just serve yourself- without juggling your kids plates as well! Our kids also really liked Simba's clubhouse.

Thanks, everyone! Glad to hear Jiko is such a great place as that was the one DH was most interested in after looking at the menus. So we have a 6:30 reservation on the Thursday evening, and DS is all set with Simba's Club.

WOOHOO! My mouth is watering already...
