One final question before I purchase DVC

I think I am going to buy two 160 point contracts at AKV with the same UY. The question I have is will I be able to use the points simultaneously when I reserve rooms, cruises, etc, or will I have to transfer points from one contract to the other in order to use of them at one time?

If you want to treat them as one contract, i.e. don't need to do transfers, then have them set one up as the master contract and one as an add-on (or subcontract, I am not sure of the correct term) to the master. I would assume that this is the default way that they will do it anyways.

However, if they ask if you want them set up as 2 master contracts, tell them no.

If you are buying them both through DVC, one will be your master contract and one a subcontract. If your master contract is number xxxxx, your sub will be xxxxx.1 So you won't have to transfer anything. You can use all of them at the 11 month window at AKV. Have you considered breaking the second contract into two or three smaller sub contracts? In the event that you may want to sell part of your interest, those smaller contracts will be worth more and easier to sell.

Ok, let me make sure that I understand this. I'll have a master contract for 160 points with two 80 point or three 40 point contracts with all points available for the 11 month booking window. The only question I have is how does this affect developer points offered as an incentive? Would I only get 100 developer points since the master contract is 160 points, or would I get 160 developer points since I am purchasing 225+ points?

My guide said that he would write up two contracts for 160 points. Not sure if he meant two master contracts or one master with a subcontract. I'll contact him tomorrow and ask. Thanks for you advice!

Under the current Friends and Family promotion you should get $8 off per point and for a purchase of 225+ points "A COMPLIMENTARY 7-NIGHT VACATION in a 1-bedroom unit at a choice of over 450 select destinations around the world".

This promotion ends 2/18.

FYI: You will have a separate contract for each group of points. 160 master, 80 sub, and 80 sub equals three contracts under one member ID.

You would get the current incentives based on your total point purchase. Breaking the second 160 into 2, 3, or 4 subs should have no adverse effect.

Good luck with your purchase and let us all know once you are in!
