I have the ddp and a dilema. Origianlly only our family was going on tthis trip. In the end we have another family with. We only have a res for 4 at Akerhaus Princess Breakfast. The men and boys happily opted out of the experience but that leavs us with two moms and 3 kids but only a res for 4.

Has anyone ever experienced this? Will they let us add one more?

I'd phone and ask now cause I'm not sure how this would work. If it was 3 going to a 4 then I think its pretty straight foreward as they usually have tables that sit 3/4 so the reservations tend to be 1/2 people, 3/4 people, 5/6 people based on table size. Phone and see they might be able to get you either a new reservation or add a note stating there will be 5

Unless one child is in a high chair you are going to need a larger table. If you just show up & they do accommodate you at a bigger table then the people who had booked a table for 5/6 are going to have to wait. Not very fair IMO.

I would call. If there is no availability then I say the other family is on their own.

Cool glad it worked out. They probably just added note to the reservation. ADR's usually dont really relate to specific tables anyway its just the tables that are free at the time. This is why when you have an ADR for 2 they often end up putting you on a 4top as there is no other space in the resturant at that time.

It would seem to me that a restaurant would only have so many dueces, 4 tops, etc. available in a given time frame.

If there is a Dining CM out there I would be interested in some insight into how this works!

Used to be a dining CM and the ADR's really don't relate much to the tables. I could never understand where they came from. If you think about it unless they set ADR's every 2 hours rather than at random times it would be difficult to plan as they wouldn't know whether that size table was likely to be available at that time or not.

ADR's never relate to table numbers its the next available table and therefore although there maybe 2 ADR's for 2 tops in an hour that doesn't mean there are 2 2top tables available it could just be that they assume it will only take 30 minutes for the table to clear.

I know when I was there it was difficult to explain to people that basically the reservations are for a table in the resturant so they will never have table sizes they can't accomadate but just because you book a table for 6 doesn't mean that there is a 6top table in the resturant just that they will find you a a 6 top or a 2top and 4top that can be pushed together as soon as its available. This is why waits vary depending on the resturant size and popularity.

I worked in the Rose&Crown for example and we mainly had 4 tops but some of the 4 top tables could be made in to 6 tops if needed depending on what parties arrived and when. Also some parties can be accomadated on smaller tables even though they are a large party, for example a party of 3 might be 2 adults and 1 highchair child so could therefore go on a 2top even though they would be booked as a 4top.

In answer yes there are only so many 2tops, 4tops etc but ADR's aren't really reservations for a specific table so therefore its easier to jig it around. Parties of 2 would be able to be sat on a 4top table if there weren't any 2tops available. Also some table sizes can be moved around anyway if needed such as combining 2 4tops to make an 8top. Just depends on needs at the time that people arrive.

It may relate that the total number of ADR's within a given time period such as 2 hours relates to the number of tables within the resturant but I honestly never found this. It seemed to be that the resturant just had a certain number of different sized table reservations in each block for example at 12 there might be 2 2top, 4 4top and 1 6top reservation available. I think it also made a difference the time of day as there were more ADR's available at night than at lunch time for example. Alot is to do more with how many people the kitchen can cope with at one time rather than how many tables are available which is why they don't always open every section of a resturant during each service.

I put a thread out there with an honest question and wasn't trying to bump a 6 top or anything rude. IMO Anyway I called CS and they said it should be OK. It did help for you to write and get more of a feel on how this all really does work.

No problem at all. Disney are quite good at accomadting when they can so its always worth asking and one extra kid isnt exactly a big deal. Enjoy the breakfast.

We just went to Chef Mickey's the other day with one extra person. It was absolutely no problem at all. We were on the DDP.

The exact wording given by Disney Dining reps is after you check in you will be seated at the next available table for your party size.

They are not reservations no matter what they now call them they are still Priority seating.

God sounds a nightmare. Weird maybe buffetts work a little different not sure.
