Haven't even started this year's trip and already thinking about next year's!! For myself, two adult children and my DS6, would you choose one deluxe room or two moderates? My two adult children will be a DS27 and DD24. I've only stayed at Wilderness Lodge so far and I can't imagine being in that room for a week all together. I think we would need more privacy. DH, myself and DS5 are staying at Grand Floridian this year, so we can check out that room then. Just looking for advice, opinions and insight. Thanks!!

That depends on the sleeping arrangements. In one room, two of the adults would have to share a bed. If they are okay with that, then I would be in favor of staying in one of the deluxe resorts that has bigger rooms, such as the Contemporary (Wilderness Lodge has some of the smallest deluxe rooms in WDW). You could stay in the garden wing to cut costs: the rooms there are identical to those in the tower.

This is assuming that this is a cohesive group that gets along, etc. Since they're all your kids, it actually sounds kind of fun to room together- some precious bonding can happen. And being on the monorail line is light years nicer than staying in a moderate.

Is there a pull out sofa in any of the deluxe rooms? It would have to be my daughter and I aleeping together and the two sons sleeping together if not, but the problem is my baby boy is pretty attached to me and DH and always wants to sleep with us. Now, this is when just the three of us travel together. He may be okay with his big brother. We've just never been in a situation where they had to sleep together.

Here is a link to the Contemporary's room descriptions:

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/contemporary-resort/rates-rooms/

It lists 2 queen beds & 1 day bed for most of the rooms. Below is a link to a discussion I found about what the Contemporary's day beds are like (from 2008, but likely still relevant):

Hope this helps!

Only the 6 year could sleep on the day bed I would imagine, depending the height of your adult kids. It's pretty small. So, two adults would need to share a Queen even with the day bed. The big plus I can see with the Mod option is two bathrooms, you can all shower and get ready twice as fast in the mornings, which is a big plus.

Rooms at the Poly have 2 queens and a pull out sofa that would be perfect for your DS6!

I'd rather go with two rooms personally, even at a value resort! Having two bathrooms would be nice, plus someone can sleep in if they want without being disturbed by others getting dressed or showering.

The BWI has club level deluxe rooms, though! They have two queen beds plus a sitting area with an actual sofa sleeper (queen size I think). Not sure how expensive those are, though!

The Poly rooms are pretty spacious. I think you guys would be fine. The pull out sofa would be perfect for your DS6. You just have to figure out morning bathroom times.

I personally would go for two rooms at a moderate. Adult children with different routines can get in the way when you are crowded in one room. And I think your adult kids would enjoy some away time from their little brother. If they wanted to hit Epcot at night and come back to the room late without waking you guys up or disturbing the little one (if he's a light sleeper).

Just wanted to add that you'll have an "extra adult" charge at a deluxe for the third adult. I believe it is $25 per night. That's not a huge amount, but as you compare prices, factor that in. We have done three adults at both moderate and deluxe resorts, but it was for a total of three people -- no other children. We did fine, but it was getting a bit crowded and another bathroom would have been welcome.

Thanks for pointing out those issues!

I think you're right about the older kids enjoying some away time! I know they can handle my little one for a few days, but then they will probably want to get away for a while. They always joke around that my little one re-enforces the fact that they are not ready for kids any time soon! Lol!!! Don't get me wrong. They really love him, but I think all parents know how much work little kids are!

I do think the one-bathroom at a deluxe might be a problem, too. I get up super early, and the two older kids sleep a little bit later, but just the privacy issue associated with one bathroom since two of my kids are older now may be an issue.

I would love for them to get to enjoy a deluxe, but two rooms there would be just way out of range for my budget!

And, also, since I and DS5 do usually wake up earlier then my two older ones, I would probably disturb the two older kids in the morning.

I am a firm believer in you can never have enough bathrooms!
Plus, as mentioned previously-adults and 6 year olds have much different sleep/wake patterns normally. Two rooms would decrease the sleep disruption on all sides, and if you're not sleeping well, then things just aren't as fun.

I recommend 2 rooms, and if you want to check out the deluxe resorts, book a nice TS meal (or two) at one (or two) of them.

My 6' tall son sleeps happily on the daybeds in the Poly, BC and YC... and hopefully the Boardwalk.
