I already have ressies at CSR for a total of 4 rooms for two families. (each family is mom, dad & 2 kids - ages 8-10) However, the deluxes look REALLY nice. I realized for the price of two moderate rooms, I can stay at the deluxe, but in one room. Are the deluxes worth cramming a family of 4 into one room, or should I stay where I am & have the room to spread out, as well as have some privacy for mom & dad;) ?

There is definitely room for 4 -- we've put 5 comfortably in rooms at the Poly and the Contemporary. We think that the deluxes are worth it -- especially for their locations.

But think about what is important to you -- if you want the privacy, then maybe the moderates are a better choice for you.

This was my current dilemma. I could have stayed in one room at the Contemporary, but I really want my own bed so we've opted for two rooms. I think two rooms at a mod is better at one at a deluxe. You have more space with two bathrooms and two tvs. CSR is a lovely resort with nice recreational facilities.

I prefer a deluxe as well. Make sure to get a room with a day bed, and everyone can take turns having their own bed! They are quite comfy (and I'm not a small person!).

Not sure of the ages of your kids - but what DH and I do is have the kids stay at the children's club, offered at most deluxes (ages 4-12, I think). The kids love hanging with kids from all over the US and other countries! They play arcade games, make crafts, eat dinner, and watch movies! I think they like the break from Mom and Dad as well. We usually plan this night in the middle of our trip.

DH and I pick up something simple for dinner and go back to the room to enjoy a little "privacy":)

to AKL (my favorite) or WL with a Queen bed and Bunk beds.......and they are the least expensive of the deluxes over two rooms at CSR. I do not believe you will be sorry with one of those choices. You will give up the extra room of having two rooms but the stay at those resorts will be worth it. :D

I quess it really depends how much room YOU need and how much time you spend in the room!

I know my cousin will rent a HOUSE off site cuz her and her husband want all that extra space - and it is the same price as ajoining rooms with a free car rental! I must say that she has never stayed onsite and has nothing to compare to though!

We had a family of 4 in WL and ds was in porta crib (squeezed between bed and slider... we also had the stroller in their and it was fine (not a ton of room - but just fine! I would opt for bunks now that DS is older!)

The ammenities the deluxes offer OUT of the room are worth it!
The quicker access to the parks via boat or monorail, hot tubs, etc...

theres my 2 cents :teeth:

I would go for the deluxe as well, but maybe you can get 3 rooms at a deluxe and the kids can share the room. You can share the cost and everyone will be happy!

For my family, we prefer going the two room route because of the extra bathroom. Just a thought that I don't think was mentioned. (I didn't read completely through all the threads, though!)

have a magical trip!

Have you thought about a cabin at Fort Wilderness? They sleep six and have a seperate bedroom. If you want privacy, you could put the kids on the murphy bed in the living room or let them sleep in the bunk beds in the bedroom and you could take the murphy bed (The bedroom has a double bed and a set of bunk beds). You also get a full kitchen and mousekeeping even cleans up after you. Also, there are alot of activities that go on at FW like the campfire singalong or the hayride. Just another option you might not have thought about.:D

We had the same dilemma when we planned this trip. We are a family of 6 (me, dh, ds9, ds6, ds4, and ds 16 mos). My dh wanted the 2 rooms and I wanted the one deluxe. we opted for the one room at the Poly figuring this would be our last time able to stay there because of our number. The boys are very excited about their Hawaiian Disney vacation and the possibility of meeting Stitch.

Our family of 4 stayed at a Deluxe. The location and proximity to the parks can't be beat at the resorts in the Epcot and MK area. I don't really think of 4 people as being too cramped in a standard room. Now if it was 5 or 6 people, that's a different story. I personally wouldn't want to stay in a completely different room than my children, but they are pretty young.

We stayed at a standard room at the Dolphin. They also offer a junior suite there, but it is considerably more expensive. The Swan/Dolphin have all sorts of special rates that you may be able to get.

I would base it on the resort itself too. If you are going to use the boats, pool, or amneities more at the "deluxe" or prefer the location monorail or epcot. But if you prefer downtown disney or spend less time at the resort but more time in the room itself maybe you would be happier in the moderate? The mod's have some nice amneities in there own right! ::yes:: And 2 rooms is a nice "little" vacation. ;)

Good luck, sounds like a nice deliema! MKY princess:

I would prefer the location of a Deluxe. If you are going deluxe why not concierge. It was well worth the extra charge for the ease of breakfast, all day water & soda and other snacks not to mention service. Last year I stayed at the Poly with my DD (3 1/2), 2 adult friends, and another 3 year old. We did not feel crowded and we had 2 strollers. I have a reservation for 6 (1 baby) for January and am hoping for AP rates so I can get 2 rooms for the 2nd bathroom. You just can't beat the convenience of the Poly-boat or monorail to the MK and walk to TTC to get direct monorail to Epcot. One possible "disadvantage" to the Poly is that the sinks are in the bathroom not a seperate vanity area.

Deluxe rooms have queen beds. I think mods only have full size?

Thank you everyone for your advise!!!!!! It's actually the other DW that wants the additional rooms, so we will stay at CSR. (Putting all the kids is not a good idea - DD8 with 3 10 year old boys makes me nervous, even if one is her brother) We do get some perks at CSR though, such as a BIG hot tub, the workout room & high-speed internet. However, if (let's go with "when") I go with my own family, (and I can still afford it), I will stay at AKL! I have always loved wild animals. As a early teenager, my room was decorated with wild cat posters! So I will go the extra room route this time, and next time hope for AKL! Thanks again for all your input. And to think I started out with plans to stay in a total of two rooms at ASMo. These boards will be my financial downfall some day. :p
