We are going to Universal to do WWoHP. We have a one day ticket for both parks. What should my plan of attack be? I know that Forbidden Journey, Gringotts, and Olivander's are the big things my 8-year-old daughter wants to do. We are coming from Port Orleans in Disney (we will have our car) and plan to get there at opening. I have read so many conflicting reports on what to go on first that I can't formualte a good plan since we are only there for one day. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I would start at US park and head directly to Diagon Alley (just follow the crowd) and ride Gringotts first as that is the newer ride. Also, on site guests have early entry to IOA park so you will be "late" getting there. After riding Gringotts go directly to the Hogwarts Express and take the train to Hogsmeade.

Assuming the wait time for Forbidden Journey is under 60 mins, enter the castle and ride. Use single rider if you want to go again. Get a wand from Olivanders. After that explore the rest of the HP area and any other rides at IOA that you are interested in.

When done take the train back to Diagon Alley and explore that area. If you want a 2nd crack at Gringotts use tbe single rider line.

Then you can head into the rest of US and explore. Don't forget to get a butterbear and try some bangers and mash for lunch along the way.

I would recommend going to the Ollivanders in Diagon Alley since the line should move faster.

@klo1335 Hi OP! Just wanted to come back to add that my advice above was based on IOA having early entry. Reverse it if early entry is at US. Forgot that they change it occasionally. You can call ahead and find out.

Arrive at the park as early as possible and plan to be there at the entrance as early as possible. You can cover a lot of ground in the mornings! Down load a wait times app on your phone in advance to use throughout the day. The lines for Gringotts (in the Universal side) and for Forbidden Journey (the Island Of Adventure side) and get VERY long very fast! I might suggest you do Ollivanders on the Diagon Ally side b/c its larger and might move more quickly. But, if you catch a short line at Hogsmead, I say go for it. You can buy an interactive wand for $45 that actually does magic at several spots throughout Hogsmead. ( I guess it does at Diagon Ally but Im not certain). If you plan to do that, Id get the wand as early as you can so you can actually utilize it that day...we notices that our cell phone batteries died quickly in the parks so charge them up and dont use them for unnecessary stuff in case you need them later in teh day to contact each other or takes photos, etc. There are actually very few rides in Harry Potter world. But there are a lot of shops. Focus on rides first in order to do it all in a day. Good luck!
