We are driving by Orlando on our way to the Everglades the week after Christmas. We will only have one day to go to a Park. Should we get a one day hopper? Stop at a time-share place and listen to the spiel to get one? Get a three day with no exp & hope we get back? I just don't know what to ask for in my stocking. We will have one child with us age 7. Thanks for any suggestions.

The hopping option will cost you $45 extra per adult ticket. And since you'll be going during the busiest week of the year, there will be long lines, and I'm not sure if you'll have good opportunity to hop (that is, you might not see enough of one park, due to the lines and crowds, and thus might not want to leave to check out another one). Does this help answer part of your question?

Most timeshares will state a 90 minute requirement to get whatever they are offering

However... When you get there you will be invited to go into a lounge for snacks, coffee, etc.

When you are finally taken to the salesperson is when the clock starts. You will be invited, after a movie or something, to tour the property. Ths will be in a golf cart. You will be far from the sales office when the 90 minutes is up.

Once you get back you will stil have more to go through, possibly a "manager" coming in to offer a better deal than the original salesperson.

Actual total time from arrival to departure will be closer to 2.5 hours rather than 90 minutes. Add in travel time both ways and how much time will you be spending?

Calculate your vacation time and hourly cost.

Take the total number of hours from the time you leave home until the time you return. Then subtract out the time sleeping or otherwise spent in your room. This gives you actual vacation time in hours.

Then take the total cost of your trip, transportation, tickets, lodging, meals, etc. Divide this by the number of hours. This gives you a cost per hour for your actual vacation time.

Now look at what you are getting, and consider how much it is really costing you.

BTW, almost any Disney ticket you get from a timeshare promotion (especially if you get a voucher) is NOT upgradeable; I know this as I am involved in selling tickets at WDW.

Basically your best bet would just buy the one day tickets. Not a hopper. The week after Christmas MK is open very late. With a 7yo the MK is the thing to do if only one day is available.

I would just get a regular one day ticket. You probably won't have time to hop. Also, with a 7 year old, you'll probably want to go to MK and that's definitely an all day park! Have fun!

Just checked on ticket prices. Let's keep it simple and just talk about the price for one adult. A one-day pass is $67. A 3-day pass is $192. Add the no expiration option to a 3-day pass and it becomes $207. So the 3-day no-expiry pass costs $140 more than the one-day pass. That means the two days you won't use right now will cost you $70 each. But you can buy a one-day pass for cheaper than that!!! Three single one-day passes would cost you $201, versus the 3-day non-expiry for $207. In this case, non-expiry is a BAAAD deal.

Thanks, I got so excited to see the mouse I didn't take time to do the whole math. I guess the one day ticket to go to MK is what we will go with!
Meery Christmas to me!

Cleverocks,
Thanks for your math lesson on tickets. I was trying to decide what to buy for my daughter in March as we will only be able to do one day at the parks. I have a few days left on my non-expiring pass, but she has nothing. Well, I'm buying just a one park one day ticket for her and we're going to the Magic Kingdom.
