We decided to add one day onto our beach vacation in May to go to WDW- namely Magic Kingdom. I’m wondering what opinions are on going to MK in the morning till lunchtime and then heading over to Hollywood Studios to see Galaxy’s Edge and the Toy Story area for the afternoon. (Then back to MK for fireworks). We have not seen either of those areas, last trip there was our honeymoon 7 years ago. No, we don’t plan on riding many or even any rides in Hollywood Studios, thus not sure if its worth it for the hassle of having to drive or take transportation to get there. Myself, my husband, and our 6 year old all enjoy Star Wars, but we aren’t super fans or anything ;) We also have a 4 year old and 1 year old who will be with us. I’m thinking deep down that it’s probably not worth the extra $$ for one day park hoppers and hassle of transportation (but part of me would love to see Galaxy’s Edge 😂🤷‍♀️). I know we’ll be taking a bigger trip to WDW when the kids are a little bigger (5-7 years from now). Thoughts please!

Little backstory-
I know WDW has changed a TON in the past 7 years since our honeymoon. We have only been once since then, for one day at MK, two years ago with two kids and spent the whole day there. I’ve been to WDW 20+ times in the past 30 years, so I used to know my way around 😂 (before kids!)

It wouldn't be worth it to me. You'll need hopper tickets for 4 people. That's a lot of money for just a few hours and will your kiddos understand that you're not really riding anything, but just taking a look around.

GE was still be there when you go a few years for now, and some of the hype will have died down to make it a more pleasurable experience for everyone. Just wait and go then and enjoy your full day at MK.

Not worth it.
Little kids first trip? Only one day? It's already going to be tough and rushed to make it through 1 park, much less the time, travel, expense, and headache to make going to 2 worth it...(getting to the front, getting to transportation, driving to HS, getting off transportation with 3 kids, going through security. Walking around. Getting back to the front, back to transportation, driving to MK, going through security, etc. Just the getting back and forth and getting through 2 sets of security with 3 kids, stroller, etc could take over 2 hours+ total out of your day)

Yes. I agree there is plenty to keep you occupied in MK and you could regret not having enough time in that park with the ages of the kids. Beside hoppers costing more, it sounds like a much more hectic day.

Thanks everyone! By this morning I had already decided to not park hop, but you all helped me confirm my decision!
Since MK might be a long day, it can work nice to plan more relaxing things grouped together mid-day like a sit down lunch, Tom Sawyer Island, Liberty Boat ride, Hall of Prez, etc. With any luck the kids may catch a nap here or there to recharge for the evening. Enjoy your time :) Seeing MK with the young ones is precious.
