We are going to hit eithr Universal Studios or Universal Islands of Adventure. With two 17 year old boys and two 14 year old boys which park would you suggest that we do for the one day? Thanks for any comments

it depends on what they like

Roller Coasters and thrill rides: IOA
more mellow but still great rides: USF
:cool1:

My 16 y/o son prefers Islands of Adventure because of the thrill rides. There you have the Hulk Coaster, Dueling Dragons (2 coasters together, both different), Dr. Doom, the water rides, etc. For him it's a no-brainer.

At USF, after he rides The Mummy several times, he's bored with the rest of the attractions.

Both!

1-day/2-park tickets are a great thing, and only about $10-$15 more than a 1-day/1-park ticket.

Both parks have fantastic rides/attractions 14 and 17 year-olds will love. Don't miss something like Mummy/Mib or Hulk/Spiderman when you can do it all.

I agree with Slacking.

But if you really have to choose just one, then definitely Islands.

Thanks for all the suggestions! So can you actually do both parks in one day by just hitting the hi-lites that teens would like?

Yup, they sure do!

Its sold at the front gate, and is called the 1-day/2-park ticket. Its only slightly more than $10 than a 1-day/1-park ticket and allows you to visit both parks and ride the rides you (or your teens) want to ride in each park.

If you do this option, I recommend you hitting IOA first and doing all the rides they want there, then head over to the Studios where Mummy and MIB should be attacked first before hitting whatever else they want to ride/see.

at the very least, the parks will be open for 9 hours and it's a 5 minute walk between them. if you're there by 8:30 am, you can knock out the most popular attractions at IOA and then move on to US. plan what attractions you want to see, and it can be done pretty easily.

Once again I really appreciate everyones suggestions, I think I will try to do both parks and hit only the main attractions.

We have 2 teenager and a pre-teen. Their favorite plan is to go to US first, head straight to the back of the park to MIB, then over to the Mummy, then maybe catch a show of Terminator or the Horror Make up Show. Then it's over to IOA for Hulk, Dr. Doom, Spiderman, Jurassic Park, and Dueling Dragons.

I'd say you could hit all the thrill rides at both parks in one day!

Can you buy the 1-day/2-park pass only at the ticket gates? I can't seem to find it available on the website. We're interested in doing the same thing . . .

Thanks!

Only at the parks and we have done 2 parks/1 day many times with our teens. Get a plan on the universalstudios website and then hit their choices. You should get their VERY early-park opening and enjoy!

They only sell the one day/two park at the gate not online. You can purchase a one day/one park online and later upgrade to the second park at Guest Services. This is often a good idea as you might not have time to get to the second park in one day. If you find you have the time to make it worthwhile to pay for the second park, just go to Guest Services and upgrade before you head over to the other park. It costs $10 plus tax to upgrade to the second park.

A one day/two park ticket at the gate costs $77.75 (this is the total price which includes the tax) If you buy a one day/one park ticket online for $59.75 plus tax (for a total of $63.64) , you can upgrade it for $10.65 (total price) to the two park at Guest Services so you will save a little over $3 that way.

I recommend doing it that way anyway just in case you don't have time to get to the second park. That way you wouldn't have paid for something you couldn't use.

Thanks so much for explaining all that, Phamton! :)
