We're doing a spring break trip this year in Orlando and decided to do one next year too. We'll definately need to check out Islands of Adventure next year (March 2011), as we'd love to see the new Harry Potter stuff. In the past, even during busy season for IOA and US, others in my family by getting to the parks at opening, have been fine without an Express Pass. I'm thinking, though, that IOA is going to be very busy next spring break (more than normal because of HPW and that it might be the time to fork up the extra dollars for an Express Pass to make lines bearable. Your thoughts? We'll just do one day and just IOA. How far in advance do you recommend purchasing express passes? Do prices change? Go up? Go down? We know already, for example, that we'll visit March 22, 2011. Right now, express passes appear to be on sale through Dec. 31, 2010.

Should we just get this on the Universal website? I'm guessing that most discount offers (AAA which we belong too and others) are for two park or multi day passes??

Staying a night onsite isn't an option we're considering either, as we'll be doing a seven night stay in an offsite condo, have a great deal on that, don't want to move, and only have some members of our party who want to go to IOA. A flex pass isn't something we're considering either as the only other place on the flex pass we'll be visiting is Sea World, and we have two year annual passes for Sea World that will still be active March 2011.

I appreciate your thoughts / information. I feel like I know a lot about Sea World and Disney World, but feel very much like a newbie when it comes to US and IOA. Others in my family and extended family have been to IOA before, but I never have. I've just been to US. I do like thrill rides, especially coasters (e.g. The coasters at Cedar Point are my favorite) and am really looking forward to eventually checking out IOA.

You should never purchase Express passes ahead of time even though you would probably be wise to purchase them eventually. If you get to IOA at opening, you can do the major attractions w/o too much of a wait. You can purchase the Express Plus passes at the park but again...wait until you arrive.
