Hi, we are flying into Orlando airport on a Saturday morning, arrival time 955am. Where is a good place to have breakfast near airport or near WDW. Would like to enjoy the Disney atmosphere. How far is WDW from the airport? Also, how about places for lunch? We are traveling with a group that includes children(ages 11-19) and some may want lunch. So, we may split up and do both. We will have only one day in Orlando and will try to enjoy as much as possible. I am trying to plan a head to make this a smooth visit. TIA

WOW..good challenge question. By the time you land, get transportation and travel 25 minutes to Disney it will be around 11 AM....I would just head for Disney and do lunch at Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary Hotel. It is a great buffet (about $20 for adults and $15 for kids.) It has lots of Disney Characters so bring the camera. Call ahead for priority seating 407-wdw-dine.

For a super dinner, Boma's at Animal Kingdom Lodge is great. It is also a buffet for about $20 to $25 and well worth it.

I do not know your budget and assume you do not want to pay park admission to eat. So the suggestions are for dining outside the parks in the hotels which cost nothing to get into.

If a great Clam Bake is your thing....do the Seafood buffet at the Beach Club.

If Buffets are not your thing (and these are great buffets) and budget is not an issue then Jiko's for Dinner in the Animal Kingdom is out of this world. It will be $50/person easy.

Let us know if you want more ideas.....there are over 100 Disney places to eat, and each has its own touch and budget....

Enjoy...Ted

Sweet Tomatoes has an excellent buffet with soups, pasta, muffins and more. One is near Universal at Kirkman.

Where did you post this? It probably was moved, but perhaps to the wrong place. If you want to eat on Disney property, ask that it be moved to the Disney restaurants board.

Ted's suggestions are great, however, I don't think there are characters at Chef Mickey's for lunch. Just breakfast and dinner, so you may want to schedule a character dinner instead. Some may start early enough for your schedule. I think that breakfast usually goes until 11, but that would be pushing it with a 10 AM arrival time.

Info on WDW dining can be found here

As Ted said, be sure to call make a reservation ("priority seating"), since you have a group. Otherwise you will wait!

Gillian..thanks for the correction on lunch at Chef Mickey's It is just breakfast and dinner, but breakfast does go till 11:30. So that would still close but doable.
