Trip Report Complete! Click here to read about how it went!
You guys, how do you handle a trip you really can't plan? All I know is that October 23rd, which is a Monday, I am going to Disneyland! I don't know if I'm getting a park hopper, I don't know which rides we're going to go on (but probably more the "big kid" rides vs. the "little kid" ones.) I don't know where we're going to eat (sit down? counter service?). I don't know what the park hours are going to be, or what's going to be down (because it hasn't been posted yet).
Things I do know:
It will be super fun. There will be no kids, just me and two of my girlfriends (roommates from college that I stay in touch with and have been to Disney twice with. I actually kind of introduced them to Disney as adults back in 2005, which was fun.
But they both live in Anaheim, and currently have AP's (which I'm insanely jealous of, though not of the other expenses that come with living there) so I have no idea what they're going to want to do on a kid-free day. I know none of us want to blow a bunch of money, but will they be interested in Cafe Orleans maybe? (It's been years since I've had a Monte Cristo) Or will we just hit up the Little Red Wagon? My touring style is pretty gung-ho, but that's because we can usually only afford to go every few years, and I want to do it all. Do they want to see fireworks, if there are any? Will they be okay staying late, or will they be tired and want to go at 6 PM? Last time we went together wasn't really indicative, because we had babies and toddlers in tow, and they were both pregnant. But getting there an HOUR after rope drop and leaving at 6-ish was just a touch hard for me.
But I don't want to be the obsessed pushy one, you know? So I'm trying to stay calm and not ask questions about what we're going to want to do probably until I'm actually there in California with them... (about 3 days before we hit Disney). But it's driving me crazy!
I would LOVE to do the Davy Crockett canoes, since I've never done them, and it seems less stressful without kids, but I'm thinking they won't be open on a Monday in October. Must-do's are Big Thunder (since it's possibly my favorite), the train (because I have missed it!), and the Matterhorn (since I haven't seen the new animatronics) and I could really live without Ghost Galaxy because I hate spooky stuff... If we park hop, I definitely want to ride Guardians, since I haven't. But I'm really pretty open, since we just went for 4 (intense, tiring, stressful, but great) days in November.
So instead I'm doing my Disneyland-self-planning by trying to make some ears, which may or may not turn into a disaster... I'll let you know how it's going in a couple days!
