hi all!

i am a universal orlando expert

a disney world sometimer

and a disneyland first timer

going april 16th with my husband and 16yo, for one day only. we will likely stay on site (pixar) and will for sure go to the after dark party that night

how would you structure your day to get the most of it?

i was thinking morning CA then mid day break, then disneyland from 6p-1am to avoid getting park hopper (and too tired) but is this not enough time in disneyland? we will get lightning pass as well if that’s helpful.

thanks so much!

I think you are going to want Park Hoppers. DCA has a lot of cool things but DL has even more. If this is your first time, I wouldn't advise you to spend the majority of your day in DCA. After Dark events have many unique activities. I would hate to see you missing out on the After Dark activities because you are trying to go on rides (and vice versa). If it were me, I would start in DL, hop to DCA midday, and then back to DL for the After Dark event. Make sure you have LLMP and that you know how to use it at DLR.

I think in this scenario (1st timer, one day only, after hours party at DL) if you are not wanting to get the park hopper I would just stick with DL the whole time and not bother with DCA on this trip. There is a TON of great stuff to see and do at DL and if it was me, I would not want to feel crazy rushed trying to get it all done in such a tight timeframe. If you just stay at DL you can spend the whole day up to 6pm doing most all the big rides with plenty of time to ride the train, do the Tiki Room, visit most or all the dark rides, ride the Mark Twain, etc. Then when the party happens you can focus on the unique events they offer for that, plus get in some more of the rides you want to try again or didn't get to during the day. Anyway, that's just a thought. I think DL has so much more to offer that for a one day first visit I'd just go there.

One day? Your midday break should be in the parks, not at the resort in this case if you’re only visiting Disneyland for one day.
