My DH and I are booked for a week at Aulani in April. We have been to Oahu/Maui before and have already done a lot of the main attractions. On Oahu, we still want to see the Kualoa Ranch, the town of Haleiwa, and simply relax at Aulani. I was, however, looking at the one day excursion to Kauai. Since we are only going for a week, I don't think we have enough time to officially island hop and stay on two separate islands. This will probably be our last time to Hawaii and I thought it might be a fun thing to try. While I kind of think I might be a little crazy for even considering this, I was wondering if anyone here has done this excursion and what you thought of it.

I'm not familiar with the excursion - what does it include? If it includes viewing the Na Pali Coast, then I do think it's worth it. We spent 3 nights in Kauai in conjunction with our Aulani trip, and Kauai was probably our favorite island (we visited Maui too). It had the most natural beauty, was the least commercialized, and it had the best weather (warm & humid, which was perfect for the pool for us). We did a helicopter tour and sunset dinner cruise in Kauai and both were awesome.

Thank you. I've been reading so much about Kauai that I think I might add an extra night to our trip after all and spend the last night in Kauai. If we take an early flight out of Oahu and a late flight out of Kauai to head home we would pretty much get two days on the island. From everything I've read, it seems like it would be worth it.

If this will truly be your last time I would recommend spending a night or two on Kauai and enjoy the island. The Napali coast is amazing as is the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific".

You won't ever get a feel for the majesty of the island on an excursion.

If you can do an extra day or two make it a three day stay on Kauai. You will not be disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't forget a stop to Lappert's. Get a car and go.

We're actually visiting Kaua'i for five nights June 2017. In my opinion, you need more than a day trip to actually visit/see/experience an island. There is sooo much to do and EAT that one day seems like too little time to really grasp everything! For crying out loud, it takes a little under an hour to get from Lihue (airport) to the north shore (Princeville/Hanalei). Maybe you can stay the night in Kaua'i and have two full days to explore the island.
