I am going to be in the area Sunday Jan. 16th with my 11 year old daughter.

We have one day to kill while we are in the area. Which is better to go to?

Thanks!

If you've never been to either, then definitely DL. I am one of the few that happens to love DCA, but if you only have one day, it's better spent at DL.

I would suggest getting a park hopper pass so that you could do DL in the morning/evening and DCA in the afternoon, but I think that would probably require you to rush around too much and you wouldn't get to fully enjoy either park.

I hope you & your DD have a great time, which ever you decide! :earsgirl:

If she likes thrill rides like my almost 11 year old dd, then I would choose DCA. If she likes more traditional Disney rides, then Disneyland.

I don't think I will every go again without a Parkhopper ticket.
I look forward to the day that they just connect the two parks.
We love Soaring over California, California Screamn', and the Malaboomer, but other than that, the only reason we go over to DCA is to eat.

Thanks so much for the advice!

We have decided on DL. She is into pin trading and wants to do DL. She has never been to either and it has been a looooong time since I was at DL.

Thanks Again! :earboy2:

Since she's a pin trader, don't miss the Pin Talk in Tomorrowland. A CM explains all the rules, plus the history of pin trading. Then every child gets 2 free pins to trade. Sometimes the adults get pins too, but the talk is mainly geared towards the kids.

I'll be at the parks the same day, we're actually doing the whole weekend. My son's 9 and has gotten hooked on pin trading. He can't walk past a CM without checking on the pins.

Yes, get a park hopper pass.

If I had to choose only 1 park it would have to be Disneyland - there's something magic about that place that has to be experienced. DCA possibly has some of the better rides, but somehow misses out on the whole Disneyland experience.

However, it should be possible to do both - I would go straight to DCA, and do the must do rides like Soarin over California, Grizzly River Run, Tower of Terror, and, if you are into wild roller coasters, Screamin.

Then spend the rest of the day in Disneyland.

If crowds aren't too big you could do the DCA section in under 2 hours leaving plenty of time for Disneyland.

Is it possible to get a one day park hopper?

Yes there are 1 day hopper passes - http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/en_US/reserve/ticketListing?name=TicketListingPage

But they cost $20 more than single park one day passes. I think that's still worth it but it's a factor you might want to weigh up.

Also, if queues are bad, it might be hard enough getting around one park, so that should also be taken into consideration.

The DCA rides Tower of Terror, Soarin over California and Grizzly River Run were (in our opinion) the best 3 in both parks - but the park itself is not a patch on Disneyland. If you have the time and money do both, if not, stick to Disneyland.

also remember that the fastpass systems are independent......so with a little hustle you could get FP at both parks.

Thanks for the advice....

I think we are going to do the park hopper. We are going to hit DCA and do what we want there and then spend the rest of the time at DL. DL is open til midnight on Sunday...so we are going to make it one marathon day!
