One day car rental from resort

How does this work? I've read that it can be done, but what's the process?

Alternatively, how much of a pain is it to hire a cab for six people from a moderate?

There are a bunch of car rental agencies on WDW property, although Alamo/National seems to get all the notice here. Check the sticky near the top of the Transportation Board page for a list of the others.

How it works is you go to the rental location and fill out your paperwork then drive off. On return its similar.

Taxies are available at all the resorts. If there isn't one outside the main building just ask them to call one for you. However, with six people you'll probably need two.

Alamo/National has mini-busses and they will pick you up and drop you back anywhere on property. You need to call them 24 hours in advance and make a reservation for the pick-up service. It's very easy to do.

We like using Dollar, which is located at the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista. It is right across the street from the Marketplace bus stop at Downtown Disney. They offer a free shuttle pickup and drop off. We have always had a great experience with them be received good rates .

I like the Dollar location across the street from DTD and you can use the code "kisse" and get a discount. the code is good for anyone to use. I have used it for years.
