one day at Universal worth it?

DD wants to go to Universal (see HP & Dr. Seuss at least). I've been looking at the prices. We'll only need park tickets (the 1 park) and cab or shuttle over plus food. Still looks expensive.

Is one day at Universal worth the expense? :confused3

Thanks!

We are doing it because we have big Harry fans in our house! My husband is going to take our older two while I stay at our condo with our two little boys. That's how we are saving a little $, plus It will give my little ones a day to rest. I've heard HP is amazing, hate that I am going to miss it, but I'm taking one for the team. Its much cheaper to add on one more day to a Disney ticket, so if you don't have big HP fans or roller coaster fans, it might not be worth it to you. Depends on what your family is in to.

If you're only going to do Harry Potter and Dr. Seuss, then it's probably not worth the money.

The Potter area is visually impressive but only consists of a few shops, a restaurant and three rides (HP & the Forbidden Journey, the Dragon Challenge coaster and the Flight of the Hippogriff "family" coaster). Forbidden Journey requires riders to be 48" tall at minimum, Dragon Challenge 54" minimum and the Hippogriff kids' coaster 36" minimum, if any of those height requirements might come into consideration for your daughter.

There are many other rides and shows and activities at Islands of Adventure that might make your visit more cost effective but if you're concerned about the value that'd you'd get for the cost of a one day/one park ticket then I think you won't be all that happy with just those two areas of the park.

We debated the same thing on our trip this past April so my son could see HP world. But we just couldn't justify the cost plus the waits to get into HP were so long while we were there it really didn't justify it. I think Universal is much more reasonable if you buy a multi-day pass but for one day, price not worth it.

Is Universal worth it for just one day? No. It is worth a whole extra trip all by itself with a multi-day pass!! :goodvibes

We had a blast at IOA and US this past March, but it is expensive to add on to a Disney trip. It is a much better park for slightly older kids. The two parks are both pretty big as well, probably on a scale somewhere between MK and DHS.

I would suggest that anyone try a non-Disney vacation in addition to a Disney trip. Spend at least 2 days at Uni, and take in the other area attractions like SeaWorld, Wet&Wild, Busch Gardens. There is a pass available with all these attractions combined that makes for a busy week at a competitive price to a WDW vacation with MYW tickets.

I'll take any excuse to get back down to Orlando during our looong winters. Two trips is better than one!

Add us to the list of those skipping Universal this time around. We just can't justify the expense. We definitely plan to go one day but we will wait until our youngest is older and we can stay longer than a day or two.

Definitely need a couple days to go through Universal.. .Awesome though and totally worth it!
