One day at the cabins?

Hi everyone!

We want to add one day to our arrival, and were originally going to book Wilderness Lodge for that night. We would arrive at the resort around noon and would go swim and then explore the Fort Wilderness resort before having dinner at Trail's End and a horse buggy ride. Then head back by boat to WL and sleep. Breakfast at WCC and move resorts.

Now my girls have watched youtube videos and stumbled upon the cabins and REALLY want the night to be spent there.

Here's my question, is that realistic? How inconvenient would it be? Are the cabins super far? We would be checking out the very next day and heading to Beach Club, would they help us bringing our luggage to and from the cabin? Could we potentially leave our Magical Express checked bags at the area where we check in to make transferring the next day easier? Would this be an absolutely crazy choice? We obviously won't have a car and will be relying on disney transportation, so I'm not sure how inconvenient getting to the cabin would be. I have never considered the cabins, but they are so hellbent I thought I would ask lol

Yup.

Depends on you. We like split stays and don't find them to be inconvenient at all. Others don't like them.

The Fort is a large property for sure. But there is good bus service internally.

Yes. Bell Services will help you transport your luggage to and from your Cabin.

Could we potentially leave our Magical Express checked bags at the area where we check in to make transferring the next day easier?

Yes. You can ask Bell Services to hold your ME checked bags.

I personally think it's a great choice since your girls really want to try it. And it's only one day/night, how bad could it be?

Thank you! We are doing a BC/GF split already, and there WILL be a third resort, it's a matter of which one. I guess I was only really super nervous of getting to the cabin without a car. I think we will do it!

I saw somewhere, can't remember what the link was though, that some of the cabins are now freshly renovated.

This is one link:

ETA here is the one I was looking for!

I love exploring the FW. Last summer we were staying at the Poly, send we took the boat to MK, and transferred to the FW boat for a late breakfast. Then we wandered around, checking out the resort store, the pony coral and the horse barn. We saw Cinderellas carriage getting ready, and I love seeing the big horses. A very nice CM took one out for us.
Then we walked along the trail to WL to explore some more and take a rest in the lobby before taking the boat to CR to check out the shops, and grab the monorail back to Poly! I love those kind of days.

With WL construction, I would stay at the Cabins. They have golf carts for rent if you want.
