Anyone ever stay overnight on points at Hilton Head and then conitnue their drive to/from WDW?? Driving from NJ the thought crossed my mind of using that as a one night stop over. Will they accept one night reservations?

Sure!!! One night is currently the minimum stay for all DVC resorts! ;)

You'll then have a 5 hour drive on to WDW after a good night's rest.

Enjoy HH! :D

We just stayed overnight on our way back from Disney at HH. The drive was between 4 1/2-5 hours. It's about a half hour in from the highway so unless you will have a little time early evening, morning to spend there at the resort I don't know if it's worth the drive in and out. My husband was disappointed we didn't go to Vero and he didn't get to fish so we compromised and stayed at HH 1 night. They fished in the morning, but it was too cold to get anything to bite but they had fun casting. Unfortunately we had to leave pretty early so we got back to Charlotte for my son's basketball game. If you've never been there it would be a good way to see the resort. We truly feel like we are going home when we are there now. We got a better deal paying cash than using points as we were there on a weekend night. I am not aware of any specials at this time, but you might check.

We did this for a 3 night stay , and it was an enjoyable break. IMHO if you ONLY plan to sleep there, you might as well just get a Motel room, but if you're going to take advantage of the resort and spend some time thereit's very much worth the visit.

I think that a 2 night stay is really the minimum stay in order to to enjoy the resort, but if you just wanted to get a feel of the resort and have a look round for a future visit, you won't be dissapointed.

This is pretty much what we hope to do Thanksgiving week. We'll be checking into HH the Friday before (with sister and her husband) then they will be returning home on Monday morning while we hope to be on our way to Disneyworld! Of course this depends on what if anything is available at the 7 month window. I'm not picky and will take any DVC resort. If nothing is available for Monday-Saturday on property then we will certainly be happy with our HH ressies for the week.

At first I thought it was silly to stay for a few days at HH then continue to Disney but the more I think about it the more it makes perfect sense. You really do need at least 2 or 3 days to get a good feel for the sort and then we'll be well rested for the semi-commando style touring I've got planned!

Have a great trip whatever you decide.

I agree with vernon. The one and only time that we stopped at HH on the way to WDW, we budgeted a two night stay. And that probably wasn't long enough either to get a really good feel for the resort. When we drove down to WDW in 2001, we stopped at Hardeeville and just got an inexpensive room there instead of spending points/money at HH. My DW and I did drive over to the HH DVC resort that evening to poke around a bit.

We have enjoyed HH resort several times. You will need at least 2 days per stay to enjoy the beach, pool, resort activities and the island offerings. This year we are taking our first extended vacation. HH for 2 days, WDW VWL for 4 days, BWV for 3 days and finally HH for 2 relaxing days. This gives us a couple of days at home before returning to reality (work).

IMHO - why spend the points on HH if you can't enjoy the resort.

One point of clarification. Are you driving from Nebraska? (NE), or was that a typo?

I agree that you really need to spend 2 nights to get a feel for the resort at all. 2 years ago we stopped on our way home from OKW for 2 nights and loved it so much we ended up calling in sick and staying an extra night. Be careful though. After that first stay we added on 165 HH points, and then added another 66 after our 2nd stay!:smooth:

NE (north east) sorry.....driving from NJ, driving down no problem. Driving home I know may be a drag so was just looking for interesting stop over point, and since HH is in DVC was exploring that option. Amount of points aside, was more interested in stopping somewhere I know was 'safe' bet to stay in so 1 night/20 some-odd points wasn't an issue with me. Thanks for the replies, now REALLY thinking of stopping for 2 days!!!!!!
