As for the beignets, you can get a bag of just the pastries (no sauce) from the Mint Julep bar right next to the restaurant. Bags come in portions of 3 or 6. They are topped with powdered sugar.

Just got back from a trip to DL and agree with the suggestions here!

My favorites for Counter Service (selected after reading many tips here on the DIS - thank you!)

DL:
Bengal BBQ -Share: Veggie Skewer, Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus Skewer and Chicken Skewer - and don't forget the Mickey Pretzel with Cheese!

Hungry Bear - Fried Green Tomato Sandwich and Lemon Cupcake

Red Wagon - Truly the best Corn Dogs on the Planet!

DCA
Pacific Wharf - Chicken Salad and Broccoli Cheese Soup - would ask for the bread on the side for both of these as well as butter for the bread


Also agree if you decide on a sit down -DL's Orleans Cafe - Split the Pommes Frites, Monte Cristo and Mickey Beignets (Gingerbread if going during the holidays).

I was told no at Cafe Orleans check in. I asked if I could get a table, then order them and have them packed up to go -- they said sure, but I'd have to wait 15 min to get a table! Hoping we have time to sit down this trip!

They have the gingerbread beignets there (not just the plain)? I tried to get them there a couple weeks ago since I figure they have access to the Cafe Orleans kitchen, but they said no. Will try again! Thanks!

THANKS EVERYONE!!

We just got back from our trip and we had a great time. Our day at Disneyland was hectic but fun. We managed to last 12 hours (from 11am to 11pm) in the parks in spite of the cold and the overwhelming amount of people!!

We ended up having lunch at the French Market where I had the Chowder & Salad Duet and my husband had the Chicken & Seafood Jambalaya.

We were pretty happy with our choices but I have to admit we ended up eating there only because it was the place that seemed to be the least crowded at that point. We were able to get our food, find a table and enjoy or meal listening to some live music outside. Can't complain.

The clam chowder in the sourdough hit the spot for me since I was craving something nice and warm. Great comfort food.

We did not have any dessert because I was planning to get a dole whip but unfortunately they were not giving fast passes for that and I couldn't wait 60 minutes for ice cream.

We had our picnic in the Sonoma terrace and I was pleasantly surprised.I did not expect it to be enough food but I was satisfied at the end. I had the antipasto one and my husband had the Asian. When he saw my plate he tried to get me to trade but it was a no go.

At the end of the day we went back to Disneyland and I ended up having the beignets from the mint julep bar with some coffee. The beignets with the powdered sugar were amazing!!! Everything I hoped they would be.

I liked the Hungry Bear's Fried Green Tomato sandwich (certainly it's something different!) but if I had it to do again I think I'd try Rancho del Zocalo. (They get mostly positive reviews and their salad sounds really good.)

Though if the line is short it's even quicker to eat at the Bengal Barbeque...your food comes on a stick for maximum mobility!

This is what we must get when we go to DL, their taco salad is really good.
