First Post here, be kind!
so I'll be staying at POR 10/15 and am not sure what people's stratagies would be... We're getting FL resident discount ($127 w/ tax) and I am debating weather or not to purchase tix with the meal plan (have ressie at Le cellier) for the ONE day we'll be there, or if I should go and use my old Ultimate Park Hopper passes. Really, we're not planning on hopping, as we just want to hang out at epcot for the day. What do you think?

Also, since it is only for a one night stay, would you just pop for the deluxe and be closer to the action (boardwalk via walking or CR for mono access)? Really how important do you think this would be.

Finally (i promise), we'd like to hang out the next sunday without goiing to the parks. Any suggestions other than strolling through DT disney? We'll probably hang by the pool for some of the morning, but what else would any of you suggest.

Thanks in advance for all your help. This board is truely remarkable.

If you have old Park hoppers that you can use, I WOULD NOT book tickets with the room to get the Dining, unless the Florida resident rate is WAY cheaper that what the rest of us can get... Use your old hoppers and pay out of pocket for your meals. As far as splurging for a nicer room, If I had the disposable income, we would be staying Concierge level at the Contemporary. I would use the old tickets, book the nicer room, and pay out of pocket for Le Cellier..

Welcome to DIS! I'm not too sure what you should do regarding your admission ticket.

I think staying at the Boardwalk Inn is worth it. We stayed there our last trip and loved it. It was nice being within walking distance to EPCOT and MGM.

You could walk around the Boardwalk on Sunday. Rent a surrey bike or water mouse. Take a tour of Saratoga Springs (the newest DVC property).

What sort of tickets do you have? The Ultimate park hoppers were on your room key and expired when you left WDW.

If you are going to Epcot I would stay at the Boardwalk.

My tix were comped for a botched stay last time we were at POR (2001). They made us change rooms mid-stay and we lost time at the parks (they just offered them without even asking... great cust. service). I just think I'm not getting full value for these UPH tix if we have no plans to park hop, or do any "extras" like PI or water parks. I don't care so much about the dining plan, especially with the F&W festival in epcot (looks yummy), just trying to save every penny!

Anyway, I think I'd like to try a new resort, but I really like the quiet pools at POR. Guarenteed to have nobody there on a sunday morning! I've checked out people's opinion of the boardwalk and, aside from location, don't really see much benefit (theming, pools, etc). Doesn't seem to compare to POR.

Thanks for your suggestions though!!! Keep em coming (T-15 days!)

I would stay at the POR and save the ticket when you can use it fully. I have stayed on property over 100 times and stayed at all the hotels and I love the POR/POFQ area! I have stayed at BWI and the BW villas and did not really care for them. I love the area and love the Yacht and beach club though!
You can run over to POFQ on your down time and also take the boat to Downtown Disney. From there you could walk over to SSR and look around. We stayed there this spring and it is beautiful.
What ever you decide, have fun! You can't go wrong which ever you decide to do!

Although I don't think the dining plan is even an option for a one day trip (is it?), I say it would be WAY worth it. We ate at Le Cellier a few weeks ago and the bill was $115 for the 2 of us and I had a kiddie dessert and my husband only had 1 beer.
The bar area in POR was always jumping at night but I never went in. Piano player maybe, it sounded fun...
I've always wanted to parasail but it wouldn't be cheap...

fall '06- already in the works, dying to stay at WL

yes, you can get dining plan for one day, and that bill is what prompted my thinking (I mean really, $115 for 1 ice-cream and 1 beer ;) )

you guys rock, thanks for your opinions...
