One bath per week.

Your sister with dry complexion probably does feel better not showering daily. My dd has mild eczema & usually bathes every other day. Her skin is not as dry or flaky that way. I do make her bathe daily in hot weather when she is funky.

Oh -definitely for kids. I only bathed my children with exema about two times a week when they were small, (unless they had a massive diaper incident or got spaghetti in their hair!) then they showered or bathed probably three times a week until they got old enough to stink.

I've always been surprised when I see people who bathe little ones every day. By the time my boys got old enough to get stinky before they got dirty (about age 9 for my kids - their hair, peeyew!) their skin could tolerate more frequent bathing.

There is a difference between not bathing because you are remote camping, and not bathing because you hate cleaning the shower.

I never said anything about not showering daily. I said I don't like being in the shower for more than necessary. If I get wet, lather, and rinse, what more is there to do? And Orlando water is hard, any more than a few minutes and I felt worse getting out than I did getting in. Now using the showers at Disney is a different story, they have a good softner system, and I could spend an hour easily.

What I did say is, I don't run to bathroom for a shower after getting sweaty, only after swimming will I take a shower immediately. Like when I'd spend time at Aquatica, I'd always shower before leaving. I couldn't stand the chlorine on me, or sitting in a car wet.

My grandmother is a wash cloth at the sink, born in 1926. She used to sit me on the side of the sink to bathe me when I was little. If I got lucky, and got a bath in the bathtub, I got a whole 3" of water to play in.

My great-grandmother (born around 1900) used to tell us of the weekly baths, but she did say they took "sponge baths" to wash the important parts every day.

I wonder when using deodorant became mainstream in the US? I'm glad it did!

I can't remember the last time I skipped a daily shower. I have to be very sick or have an unusual circumstance to skip a shower.

My mom grew up in the depression, but did do, at the very least, what she called a ladies bath. She told me and I quote: "you wash as far down as possible, as far up as possible, and then you wash possible." lol. I was older when I finally figured out what possible was. :lmao:

And possible should be washed every day, as well as pits.

I shower every day at least once. I always shower as soon as I get home from kickboxing.

I remember my grandma (now 92) telling me that she and her two sisters used to only take a bath once a week. She also told me that the oldest sister would go first, then the middle, and then my grandma-- but they didn't get new bath water so by the time my grandma got to take her bath the water was dirty and gross!!

I'm very thankful for my daily shower!
