One 2 credit meal, which would you choose?

Hi,

After planning out our days in Disney, I realized I had enough meal points to do one 2pt restaurant. We have never done a 2 point dining experience. I have two boys 9 and 6. Right now I booked the Hoop-de-doo review, but was wondering what your thoughts are in terms of using my points. Is it a good pick or should I go for a better restaurant?

Thanks!

Hoo Dee Doo is a must "Doo"! Food is basic but quality is excellent, and everyone will have a memorable time.

Are you asking for food quality or entertainment value? I mean if you are asking food quality - I would definitely chose another restaurant for 2 credit... the food is good but IMHO not worth 2 credits. The show is cute and I appreciated it from a WDW history perspective. That being said, there are great food options for 2 credits.

Well as an adult you might like my favorite restaurant Jiko's but for your boys Hoop De Doo is really hard to beat. The entertainment is better than the food but I am really snobby when it comes to chicken (born in Appalachia) and I like the chicken there.

I honestly don't know lol. My last trip we didn't do anything that was 2 points. I guess I would like a memorable experience that we all would enjoy. I keep going back and forth between Hoop de doo and California Grill.

With your two boys, I'd vote for Hoop Dee Do. It is a great show and your boys would love it! The food is not bad. It'll be a great and memorable experience!

After doing both many times over -California Grill for cuisine and Hoop Dee Doo for the experience (especially if you've never been).

My DS10 loves both HDDR and Cali Grill. He loves the show and the jokes at HDDR (and the food, too, though I find it pretty subpar) but loves going out on the observation decks at Cali Grill. Neither will be a waste of your credits. It just depends on what you are in the mood for. Maybe put it up to a family vote?

With the boys, HDDR is the way to go vs. CG. With the 2 credits, you are mainly using the price for the show. Food is good though

Oh man - I would choose CG every day of the week over HDDR! The view of the fireworks is amazing and I think the food is great.

going to second this especially with kids. CA Grill is probably the most kid friendly signature out there too, my son LOVES the view, loves the food etc. But he also loved hoop dee doo. he was 9 on our last trip.

Hoop Dee Doo - is a MUST DOO! I'd get there via Friendship from MK or one of the monorail resorts or TTC and try to go during an earlier show when it is still daylight so you can check out the animals at their farm (the peacock...)---gives you a better lay of the land.

Did you know you CAN go to Cali Grill too? Just go there for dessert---you could even go there to just split one dessert between the four of you---you could even go there JUST to the lounge for one drink and waters for the kids without reservations at 8pm and stay for fireworks! One time, we made ADRS and we had special ordered a surprise celebration WDW cake we split w another family to treat son and his BFF for great grades and so on. It wasn't that expensive even if we hadn't split the cost---no one had anything other than water with this cake and we got 4 star service and were never rushed!
