Once Upon A Time

How about the boy who discovered Emma on the side of the road.

I can't believe I forgot him to the list!!

He was my first guess when August first came onto the show!

Wow, the White Rabbit? Interesting thought!

We'll know soon enough!

going back to horse (bike) and royality (purple bandana/ scarf)

Knight in shining armour- prince to Emma...

I thought Aladdin before, but he is full of lies. Of course, since James is the opposite of what he is like in Storybrooke, maybe Aladdin is too. Problem is how is he in both worlds... and Emma isn't Jasmine

Wasn't there an episode of Emma looking at a newspaper or clipping about her being found? Was there a date on it- I've googled but found nothing. If it was August I would be even more convinced he was Pinocchio, was transported because he was made of the same wood as the cabinet, he "found" Emma and has been "in hiding" ever since. Now he is back and hoping to help her break the spell.

Ohhh...I originated the Pinocchio theory. If it ends up being true, I want my credit :p.

As far as August being the White Rabbit. Did anyone else notice the old guy eating the carrot, who answered the door with his wife when Leroy and Mary Margaret were originally trying to sell the candles? I thought that he, perhaps, was the white rabbit.

I noticed the carrot. :)

On another note: it seems like we keep going back in time in Fairy Tale Land (in terms of how the story is revealed) and forward in Storybrooke. Just something I found interesting.

I think he is Jack Sprat. He was super skinny, and his wife was really heavy. I mean how many couples answer a door together, which makes me think they are a pair.

"Jack Sprat could eat no fat.
His wife could eat no lean.
And so between them both, you see,
They licked the platter clean."

So this was probably one of the worst episodes of the season. Why they would waste time with the story of a dwarf is beyond me, especially one that was so terribly sappy and lame. I did like Nova's character (Yay Fred from Angel!), but to say that dwarfs are essentially dumb diamond mining slaves really bothered me for some reason. Especially since we know that eventually the rest of Grumpy's "brothers" get a cottage and live above ground and help Snow. Or do we know that? I can't remember the show putting her and dwarfs together besides Stealthy and Grumpy at the castle. Wasn't she in the coffin with the dwarfs in the very beginning of the season?

During the PaleyFest panel the creators of the show were asked about the identity of August. There was some discussion that there were tons of theories, and one the creators acknowledged that they were aware of all the theories and said someone had it right. Pretty cryptic. They were specifically asked about the "future Henry" theory, and I took the response to the question to mean the Henry theory wasn't the correct one. They didn't emphatically deny it, but they were dismissive in their response.

In this week's TV Guide Eion Bailey says, "August is central to the story from its origin. He has an awareness that helps him know things that other people in the story do not." From that I am between my theory that he is in some way connected with the origin of the dark curse EQ unleashed, or he is stow away Pinocchio. Excellent theory BTW!

I noticed the guy eating the carrot too. I thought Rabbit from Winnie the Pooh. LOL. He had that flustered, worried, stressed look about him.

I didn't like it either, but I guess they felt the need to tell Grumpy's story since they introduced that he had loved and lost it in the episode where Snow drinks the poison to forget PC. (Now if they would just finish out some of the storylines they dropped on LOST. I mean, who was shooting at Sawyer and company when they were in the boat flashing through time. Wait..it has been two years, time to let it go.) They do show her with the other dwarfs in their dwelling in the episode, but I don't remember if they show it as a cottage above ground. And yes, she was with the dwarfs at the coffin in the pilot, and Doc delivered Emma as well in the pilot.

Oh, and I agree.. yay Fred! She was on an episode of Grimm as well.

Not to mention the fact that it is a completely different story than the story that Grumpy told Snow while they were imprisoned together.

But yes, the cottage is above ground, because Grumpy came running in to tell Snow about the wedding being cancelled.

Perhaps Grump's story will be important at some point in the future and that's why it needed to be told. It wasn't my favorite episode but I loved Nova and hope to see more of her in the future.

I am really looking forward to next week's episode. Red and Snow vs the Big Bad Wolf! Can't wait!

Did anyone else notice the quote "You can do anything as long as you can dream it".

Awfully close to "If you can dream it, you can do it."

I knew that sounded familiar!

I thought of Jack Sprat and his wife as well... Carrots were also shown at David's "coming home" party....

I think that August saying "I never lie" is just so telling.... I also think that him never lying and Emma always being able to tell when someone lies links them... some side effect of being transported by the cabinet and the Blue Fairy's magic.

OK, I had a suspicion about something and IMDB confirmed... The head nun WAS the Blue Fairy!

So this storyline did serve a purpose- we learned that even the magical creatures were cursed. While Blue Fairy's magic could protect one person from the curse, it couldn't protect herself!

And also that maybe Rumpelstilitskin was right- fairy magic *is* not all it is cracked up to be. He obviously disliked fairies, and now dislikes nuns. And we see that if all magic comes with a price, one of the prices of fairy magic is that two races are enslaved to produce it (dwarves and fairies)

One theory about what becomes of Nova: Remember when Snow had the vial of fairy dust, Charming asked isn't fairy dust supposed to be a good thing, and Snow answered something like, "It isn't that kind of fairy." So maybe because of her broken heart, Nova turned to the dark side.

The other thing that bugged me about Sunday's episode- besides the mindless slavery thing- was the fact that is *wasn't* love on Dreamy's part- it was the fairy dust.

But as the episode ended with his vowing to fix up his boat, maybe he is back to being dreamy again?

Interesting. I took it as the Fairy Dust changed Dreamy before he was hatched, so he was able to love.

That's how I took it, too. And I can't imagine Nova turning to the dark side. She seemed way too pure of heart. I hope that's not true, and if it is, I hope she changes back.
