I wonder (as I hope David finds his cojones), though -- most of the men from FTL seem pretty wimpy in Storybrooke -- David, Ashley's guy, Dr. Hopper (even Dr. Whale's wimpy in a creepy way). Maybe that's part of the curse so that Regina gets to play Amazonian?

Well since it seems likely that Rumple created the curse, and he was ridiculed for being a coward, maybe he put something in there that made the men of Storybrooke cowardly?

I've been lurking on this thread since the beginning - finally emerging to comment I like these theories - very interesting observations about the wimpyness of the men being possibly a part of the curse.

I think August is Pinnochio. It just seems to make the most sense, especially since we haven't really heard anything about him and in the first episode he had a big part in helping build the cabinet

I don't think he's Peter Pan, because the producers/writers have all mentioned that they don't have the rights to the Peter Pan storyline. They are working to get the permission to use Peter Pan in an upcoming story, but if that doesn't come through, it would be a big gamble to have August already cast as Peter Pan, and then not be able to see that storyline through.

I'm still going with the Pinocchio theory. I think either they figured no one would know about lemurs, or they'll explain it some way.

They DEFINITELY did that scene on purpose. They released a small spoiler saying to listen carefully to that scene when determining if August is 'trustworthy'....

Agree. I also wonder whether it was "poetic license." He's a writer. If he wants to imagine (or, rather, wants Ruby to imagine) lemurs climbing all over prayer temples in Nepal to have her think creatively and expand her thoughts beyond Storybrooke, then he can do so (similar to an artist painting a sky green -- it's not accurate, but it's his artwork).

Still thinking Phantom Tollbooth, Dr. Who, etc. about Booth/Pinocchio, though.

Hmm. Lots of great theories. I just love the show. I don't see the tiny details that y'all see as often. lol I get so into the story. I do need to go back and rewatch the series. Since I still have them on DVR.

I hate that I think August isn't really a nice guy. Assuming the lemur thing is a lie, and just from the overall feeling I get from him. Can't we have one hot guy be a good, hot awesome guy? Not dead or a wuss? Please??

So a while back we had this casting call for a character named "Jefferson."

JEFFERSON: Late 20s to Mid 30s, a rakishly handsome, former criminal who in Fairy Tale Land has given up his life of crime and dedicated himself to his daughter, while in Storybrooke he is a dangerous and mysterious figure who knows about the curse and attempts to convince Emma that it is real. Guest star. Any ethnicity.

When the stranger showed up in town there was some speculation he might be this guy. There was also some argument as to whether or not this casting call came too late for the filming schedule for the episode where August first appeared. All of that was way too complicated for me bother with trying to sort out. That's ok, because now there's this...

While we'll learn how the Mad Hatter became, well, mad in Wonderland, his real-world counterpart, Jefferson, is just as eccentric. Surprisingly, his kidnapping and drugging of Emma (Jennifer Morrison) is the least of his offenses. (source: TV Guide)

So, now we'll get to meet Jefferson. Yes, we'll find out what drove the Mad Hatter mad, but... he was a criminal? He has a daughter?

When August said he never lies it was a lie, just. Like his story about the lemurs. I have no doubt that August is Pinocchio and I am on board with those that say he came through to this world with infant Emma.

Yeah. Like me. Went from blond as a baby/preschooler to red to brown with just a little red. I'm a redhead again but it's enhanced!

I like the Pinnochio theory too. But I wouldn't bet the mortgage payment on it! I have been surprised before and expect to be again. That's what keeps it interesting!
