Yes,I think he said James.

I think the teapot set means Beauty and the Beast, not Alice. Just my guess. :)

When Snow White calls the Prince "Charming" he tells her he has a name. Does he say "James?" I don't remember. I only remember SW saying "I like Charming better."

I don't think he gave his name at that time. I think we only found out his name this last episode.

As for the ring SW returned it to him but when they were married tha prince put it on her finger.

I'm pretty sure SW did give the ring back to him. ETA: I went to abc.com and read the recap for this episode and SW did give the ring back to James.

His mother gave him the ring to give to King Midas' daughter. She said true love follows the ring where ever it goes and he would grow to love the princess. She said even if she never saw him again she would at least know that he would find love and be happy.

I was confused about the ring. Is there some kind of spell on it that makes true love happen? Did James fall for Snow White because she touched the ring first before Midas' daughter? I don't really like that idea. Or is it just James would know to give it to his one true love (Snow White of course)?

I personally don't think the ring is enchanted. I think James loves Snow. I think his Mother loved his father and she just believed the ring brings true love because she had a good marriage while wearing it. You never know though.

Back to Fairy Tale Land where Snow White and Charming find the trolls at their bridge. Snow tries to negotiate and get the ring back but the trolls figure out that Charming is a royal and that she’s, Snow White, the one with a price on her head. When they try to escape, Snow White gets away and Charming is almost killed by the trolls. Snow comes back and uses her magic fairy dust to save him by turning the trolls into bugs. Charming thanks her, and tells her, “I told you, I have a name. It’s James.” Snow White smiles, “Nice to meet you, James.”
Emma, Mary Margaret, Henry and Graham are still searching the woods for John Doe. As Mary Margaret sweeps the area with her flashlight, she finds John Doe on the banks of a stream. She runs to him, gives him first aid and pleads with him, “Come back to me.” John Doe comes to, “You saved me. Thank you.” When she asks him who he is, he doesn’t know.
John Doe is at the hospital being attended to by Dr. Whale when the Regal Blonde from Fairy Tale Land shows up, calling him David. Mary Margaret asks aloud who she is. Regina appears right behind her and says it’s his wife. Off that bomb, we’re back in...

James was the Dragonslayer's name. The farmer's son assumed his identity and is now being called James. I don't think we know what his mother named him.

Hmmm on the "The Nolans" camera shot. I am sure it means something, but I have no clue whatsoever what. :confused3

I just looked up the name "Nolan" on a baby name site and they said it means "Chariot-fighter, champion"

Most of the characters have names that mean what they were is the Fairy Tale land

Regina means Queen

Mary Margaret Blanchard- Blanchard means white

the more obvious ones

Ruby (red riding hood)- is red

Dr Hopper is Jiminy Cricket

and who knows how many more I've missed (probably a lot)

The ring doesn't make the one you give it to love you, you only give it to the one you love. That's the gist I got from it anyway. It helps you to find your true love. Just like it helped James. He made the decision to take the long way, carrying the ring with him, where SW would steal it, it brought him to his true love.

So yes, I think the ring is enchanted, and pushy. lol

Oh thanks for pointing all of that out....very interesting.

Emma owes him which makes me think that, in the future, she is going to get pregnant and want to keep the baby but will owe it to Mr. Gold.

I don't think so -- Rumple is all about the first-born child. He's going to want something to do with Henry, Emma's first-born.

I read somewhere Rumple is so concerned with children and first borns because he lost his own son. Does anyone know of any truth to this?

Wikipedia (not the best of sources) has an interesting entry about it:

Rumpelstiltskin has also appeared in The Witch's Boy by Michael Gruber, wherein the character is an unnaturally ugly baby is raised by a witch, who names him Lump when she finds him abandoned in a tree. As a child, he was isolated by the witch to protect him, but when he goes out into the world he becomes consumed by the desire for money and revenge against those who have hurt him. Through a ritual, the witch helps him find his rname (i.e., the name of his soul), Rumpelstiltskin, which he is not to tell anyone for it will give them power over him. His childhood innocence is trialed through the cruelty of the world, giving a more in-depth look into his character.

I wonder how true it is. It will be interesting if it is and how they tie that into the story line.

Beauty and the Beast was the first thing that popped into my mind when they showed the tea set also. I can't wait to see how it plays out :)

I'm a little late but joining in. I love this show! I was a huge fan of LOST so I'm very happy to have something now to fill that void.

I've read all the pages of this thread and I'm so glad I did because there are things I've missed. It's fun to try and see the things related back to LOST. I did manage to catch the Appollo candy bar and the whisky from LOST. I'm also a lot more interested in reading more about the fairy tales. Some I know well but others not so much.

Thanks for pointing out about the bottle of whiskey. I didn't watch Lost, so I didn't connect it, but the camera focused on it so I knew it meant something. Also, later in that particular show, was there some connection with the carrots that Emma was eating (at least I think it was Emma)?

Yeah, what was up with the carrots? They seemed to focus on that.
