Once Upon A Time

I thought it was fascinating that Whale said that Prince Charming wasn't his prince. So, if everyone in Storybrook (except Emma and August) was from the fairy tale world, why would Whale say that? Is he not from Fairy Tale world?

An interesting theory of Dr. Whale is that he is Dr. Frankenstein. The original 1939 Frankenstein movie was directed by James Whale.

I thought this as well! Do we know yet what is first name is? Cause I'm wondering if it's "Victor"...

I also wondered about the absence of Pinocchio/August. And I, too, thought that the NYC man at the beginning is Bae.

I was a little worried about where they were going to go with this season because they broke the curse so quickly. (I had kind of thought that would be dragged out a little longer) But I really enjoyed the show last night and I"m looking forward to seeing where they take it now. I'm glad they gave us plenty of new things to keep us guessing. My only issue was that DD was a little scared by the wraith and so she didn't enjoy it as much as she usually does. But hopefully next week she won't have that problem.

I like the idea of the mystery man in NY being Bael but who would have sent him the postcard?

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned it yet - the wraith = the Dementors from Harry Potter!

Is it just me or does it seem like most of the villains either aren't in SB, or haven't been introduced yet? Yeah, Regina and Gold are there, and Maleficent sort of was. But what about the rest of them? Every fairytale has a villain.

Really liked this episode, seems like it's going to be a good second season.

I really can't wait to find out who Whale is, finally. Especially after last night. He's never had much of a character, and I think that was the longest scene he's really had. Him saying "you're not MY prince" could indicate a few things. He may just be from another kingdom in FTL, or another world, or he could be not human in FTL.

As far as the mystery man in the beginning...I don't know. It does seem like it could easily be Bae...but then it seems too obvious. Having all the different stuff in his apartment that could point to different characters does make it seem likely, because Bae would (presumably) be looking for his dad, and collecting clues and such.

A lot of people seem to think he's either the White Rabbit or the March Hare. I can see that. They've mentioned that all the lands were affected by the curse, so maybe people from other lands ended up in different places? Hatter seemed to be in FTL when the curse hit, so he ended up in SB. But what about the rest of wonderland? And in the previews they showed Hook, who seemed to be an actor we haven't seen before, so where has he been? Maybe if other lands got sent other places, and now that the curse is broken and they all know who they are, they are all converging on SB?

Ginny Goodwin made several comments about that on her Twitter feed last night.

This is what I think too.
I think that's why his apartment is so full of stuff, he collects things just like his dad.

We thought that too when he first came on screen. My alternate theory though is he is one of Peter Pan's lost boys, or could be Peter himself (actually I think Dr. Whale is Peter). He has a lot of Indian-type momentos in his apartment, and it looks like he has a drawing of a Big Ben-esque clock on one of his walls. Eh who knows. Most of my theories don't pan out. I promised myself I'd just watch this season instead of over analyzing every episode and looking for hidden clues. That promise didn't last very long.

this show is like a combination of my two very fav things Disney and the TV show LOST.

One question, I have never seen any of the Harry P movies BUT are wraiths also characters from LOTR?

I wasn't overly impressed with last night show. Seemed kinda of lacking compared to last season.

My husband pointed out to me that the wraith is from Lord of the Rings, and the concept could go back further.

I loved the episode last night. The guy in the first seen could be Bae but I think that is too obvious. As far as Dr. Whale, when he made the comment about David not being his prince, I wonder if he has his own kingdom. Could he possibly be Ariel's father?

My only hope is that the creators somehow bring back the huntsman. :goodvibes

Has anyone thought that Dr.Whale name may even be a clue to his identity... Some of the characters names do have a strong connection like
Ruby is Red
Mr Gold is Rumple who spins hay into Gold
Sydney Glass was the man in the mirror
Dr Hopper is jiminy cricket
Just to name a few.

We have hashed his name around quite a bit. The obvious choice is Monstro, but there just isn't a lot of other evidence.
