Once Upon a Time at WDW

I was at Magic Kingdom the morning that Lana Parrilla was shooting the promo mentioned on today's show (see my pic of it below). Unfortunately, I thought it was filming of a silly Disney TV promo as I did not see anyone that I recognized (it turns out the woman who I did see was the producer who is seen in the video shown during the news segment today). I left to go to AK. Because this is my favorite show and I absolutely love Lana, I was in tears later that night when news broke as to what was going on. The moral of the story? Never leave during a production shoot!

I was disappointed with the promo. Nothing really wrong with it by itself, but I had thought that it was actually going to be a scene in the show (although I hadn't figured out how they were going to make that happen...). My expectations were too high!

Unfortunately all the hubbub made it seem like it was supposed to be part of the story (ala how some shows in the 80s/90s used to have an episode set in the parks), but it just turned out to be a commercial, just with Lana Parilla in character.

I'm guessing none of the team saw it before recording today, as they seemed to still be going on the original report.

It was still neat.

We've seen a few tapings, but haven't seen anyone particularly famous. When we stayed at AKL, they were taping in the lobby at one point, with a "family". Then later in the day, we were stuck behind them them taping on the bridge at AK. Then the next day, they were in the World Showcase...we couldn't get away! But we saw that they traveled with an extensive wardrobe, which I thought was strange for what looked like a promo taping...never did figure out exactly what it was for, but one of the crew said it was for an online thing.

It would be cool if NFL was in fact some off shoot of Storybrooke and the CMs were cursed folks from the other world...

Gold could work at Gaston's, Tiny could seat people.at BOG, Henry could be forced to work on Small World...can't stand him.

I understand Nikki, I would have been so upset to have missed that too. I love Regina, she is my favorite character on the show. But you were lucky enough to see Leonard last trip, I've never seen anyone famous. Well, except for Julie, Kevin and John.

I did have a fab time with Gaston though, so that softens it a bit. BTW, it was the same "friend of Gaston" that appeared in the OUAT promo. That was my fav scene. I about died laughing.

Lol. I love regina so much I made sure that my gown for son's wedding in October was in regina style....collar and all. Perfect mother in law outfit. Hey it was a Disney themed wedding and I ruled! Ha

FYI, OUAT was officially renewed this evening...and a spinoff has also been picked up for a renewable "limited series". It appears that each set of 13 episodes (assuming it is renewed beyond the first 13) will tell a cohesive story, with the first being based in Wonderland and focusing on Alice.

Ooh I love this show, although we are behind in the UK.

Does that mean theres a 3rd series with a spin off in the pipeline ? If so, I hope they keep the same standard in the spin off as in the main show, it'd be a shame if it ruined it.

Yes...in British parlance, OUAT will have a third series, and a whole new series as a spinoff. The spinoff is by the same producers, so it shouldn't be radically different, but it will be set in pre-curse Wonderland.

I thought the ad was cheesy. We love Disney, OUAT, and Queen Regina, but I was not impressed... the humor was almost there (esp. Gaston) but not quite...

Nice effort though. NFL looked good in it.

Rumors of OUAT merchandise - some very credible - have been around for several months now. Originally, Disney Parks set up displays with the new "Wicked Queen" and princess-themed line of home decor items when the show began to reach its current popularity. There was a table with the items in many Disney Parks' shops, and it served as their answer to OUAT merchandise for many months. You can see a few of the pics below.

Unfortunately, official OUAT merchandise has not been out as of yet in the parks. I'm following it and will be sure to let everyone know once this happens.
