that is IT, right? If I put the tags on our suitcases, we do NOT have to touch them after we check them, they will show up in our rooms, right? They won't be turning round on round on a belt somewhere waiting to be picked up? :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I have used it before, but it was a number of years ago and my mind is just blank.

And once the tags are on, and the bags are checked, we can't change our mind about picking up the bags ourselves right? So make sure I know what we want to do BEFORE attaching the magical yellow sticker. lol

Just want to double check!!

As long as you a domestic traveler, that is correct...they will not appear on the luggage carousel at the airport. International Guests have to collect their luggage and bring it to DME (so, I would guess they don't get the yellow tags?).

Yup, once you've given your yellow DME tagged bags to the airline to put onto the plane, you won't see them again until they appear in your WDW resort room.

Tag those bags at home....check them, and forget 'em.

Not quite. You don't HAVE to be a domestic traveller. Canadians (who preclear US customs in Canada) do not have to collect their luggage for Customs and Immigration on arrival. The OP is Canadian.

As long as you arrive before 10:00pm. After that, everyone has to collect their own luggage and bring it with them.

Interesting and good to know. I always went with the language on the DME webpage about International Travelers:
"If you are flying into Orlando International Airport from another country, you must claim your luggage after disembarking the plane and follow the U.S. Customs and Border Protection process. "

So, are there Canadian travelers that do not pre-clear US customs? Or do they all pre-clear US customs automatically? Do you know if travelers from Mexico also have the same ability to pre-clear US customs? (They would be another one that might have different international rules because of their proximity to the US.)

It depends on the departure airport, not the traveller. Some regional airports don't have US Customs and Immigration set-ups. We do in Halifax, so if we're on a direct flight or our only connections are in the US we don't see our bags again until they arrive in our room. DME rocks, especially when you have a long flight (ours is 4 hours, after which we're just not into hauling luggage around).

Yup, all true, unless you're like us and have taken a late night departure to the US when US customs at your departing airport is not open. In those cases you'll clear US customs at your point of entry into the US. For us, that was Houston at 5 AM. On one trip we arrived at the same time as 3 large planes from South America. It pays to have NEXUS/Global Entry on those occasions. :thumbsup2
