Once more - how "save" hotel offer to prompt pincode?

I didn't write down the exact steps some of you have used to save an offer online for the onsite hotels and then later received a pin code offer. Thanks for the help or link to that thread. Thought I'd give it a try.

If you get a pin code, do you have to book within a certain time frame? Can you cancel if a better rate (public or AP) comes along?

It'll say when it has to be booked by. It's like any other resort reservation as far as cancellation policies.

You just price a vacation package at disneyland.com. There will be a button on the results page that says "save this offer". This doesn't guarantee you will get a pin code. There is speculation that doing this and/or ordering a vacation planning DVD might help though.

I use to get pin codes in the mail and on email often. Now that I would like to have one come through, nothing.

I have tried the save offer technique but so far for me, it hasn't produced a pin code offer.

good luck

I tried this and after a month or so, I received a mailing from DLR, opened it excitedly, thinking, here's my pin code! Well, the mailing was worded as if it were a discount, but the price was EXACTLY the same price as had been originally quoted on the DLR website. :confused3

So I'm still waiting/hoping/going to check with AAA, too.

This is closer to the kind of info. I am looking for. Someone in a prior thread had detailed more thoroughly exactly how to do this and several had success in later getting a pin code sent to them.

I wish I had saved that thread.

That is how it has worked for me. I just plugged in my dates and saved the offer. I usually do 3 or 4 different time frames to compare prices. High season vs. off season etc and save them all. I have received four or five pin codes over the last couple years.

This worked well for me a few years ago when I was planning a trip to WDW. I tried it again for DL a few weeks ago and again received a pin code for WDW, but nothing for DL. Sigh.... I wonder if there is something I might be doing wrong? Good luck to everyone who is hoping for a much coveted pin code!

Me too! I did all the tricks that used to work for me but they are only prompting WDW codes. I even created an account for my DH, requested a DVD and did a saved offer for the GCH and today he got an email with a pin code for WDW (with a mention of "we know you are thinking about a vacation 9/1 to 9/8 (our correct dates). So strange. I am not expecting anything to come out till July or so for our dates but the whole WDW thing is strange.

This happened to me as well. I have saved offers and had a DVD mailed to me, all I have gotten is a mailing and two emails with the same price that is quoted on the DLR website, without any type of discounts.....
:confused3

Well I am not happy by everyone's lack of success, but I am happy I am not alone. I have had the same results, either offers for WDW or telling me about my offer, but no discount. I had even emailed them thinking perhaps I was getting the WDW offers because I was in Canada (most of the world thinks Canada means Ontario and thus WDW visits) :lmao: anyway, I think with all the new renovations and excitement they are just not handing out discounts right now. :sad2:

I have done the pin trick several times and have gotten DLR pin codes. I think they start giving WDW codes when they give out too many DLR codes. However, I helped my friend to do the trick last october and immediately she got a WDW pincode via email, then a week later, she got a DL code in the mail.

I think it's so random to get one and that it's just chance. Obviously, if you don't visit the site often or price vacations, you're more likely to get one. I am trying to get one for my upcoming trip in mid-October. I got one last year for early November using the trick, so here's hoping. I got the pin last year during August for the time period I wanted. I think if it's too far out, you won't have any luck.

I have had a 50/50 success rate with this but nothing since mid march even though I have saved 3 offers. Codes never meet the dates i can get off.

I think the DLR hotels are so heavily booked for the rest of the year that no specials will be offered for awhile.

I agree with you Doug. I have a feeling there won't be too many discounts coming out for the remainder of the year, but I am hoping. My trip is planned for 10/19-10/23 and with my AP discount (which is never that much off), the DLH is quoting $415 a night after taxes for a standard room. To me, that is just insane and I won't do it. For the same price, I can get a view concierge room at PP, but I can't bring myself to get away from the DLH. But, worse comes to worse, I have a hojo retro rate already booked, so if I have to, I will take that.

Last year we stayed November 11-15th and I paid about $205 for a standard room at the DLH, post construction with a pin code. Once you have that rate, it's kind of hard to pay $200 more a night, I can't justify that. At least with PP, I know I'll have a great view and concierge.

I know with Carsland things are going to be higher and Halloweentime is getting more popular, but sheesh, they're doing too much.

The steps are outlined in this thread:

I tried with a new account for myself and my wife's existing account, but I had the same results as others in this thread--I got stuff in the mail talking about the same offer I had saved.

I think you are exactly right. My trip is coming up soon, so I'm pretty sure I'm out of luck. Maybe those traveling after the first of the year will get something.

Thanks for the link. That's what I remembered.

We are looking at the first week of November. I know it's normally a slower time. I hope we can get some kind of discount for the DLH. (AP, public or pincode) I hope Carsland doesn't make BIG crowds in the slow times like ours.
