When we visited Disneyland with our grandson last summer, we truly did think that it was highly unlikely that we'd ever be able to visit again. As it happens, we have planned a trip for July. Hooray!

So here's my question-- where should we stay this time? Last year, we were at HoJo's and while it was fantastic, the walk was just a little too much at the end of the day. In addition, the water park, while wonderful, proved to be a source of conflict in that we flew across the country for Disney and not water fun that is easily accomplished at home.

Since the walk was such an issue, I've landed on the Tropicana and Park Vue. If any of you have a preference between those two, I would really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance for the help that only you faithful Dis-boarders can provide!

I don't have any reviews, but I think with the Hoopla that is the 60th Anniversary this year you should book ASAP to guarantee yourself a room!

Have a magical time!

Location wise they are both perfect, right at the crosswalk.
ParkVue has a continental breakfast and Tropicana does not.

Both are fine. I haven't seen any real bad reviews for either one.

I agree that if you are going this July, you'd better be booking NOW!

Tropicana holds your reservation with a major credit card but no money is charged to the card.
ParkVue charges the first nights rate to hold the reservation.
I prefer to book with places that do not need money up front, but that's just me....

Have a great time.

Something very very common with kids. Many (most? all?) kids love bodies of water; I remember just yearning to go in the most boring rectangle of water at a generic Motel 6 when traveling with my dad...it was the absolute highlight. So expect that to happen again, even without a water play area. :)

I figure either motel will work well for you.

Do you know about the ART bus? They have routes that run all over the place. http://rideart.org/ If you're weighing prices, staying a little further away could prove less expensive, and thus give you another day or few days in the park. Taking the bus to-and-from the park is convenient, they come about every 20 minutes.

There is a bus that does take you to HoJo if you wanted to stay there again, and it looks like they drop you off right at the hotel itself.
