Onboard rebooking question

For all of you who have booked a second cruise before sailing, and then tried to rebook onboard with "perks"...

We booked a cruise back in the Fall for next Winter, and then sailed last week in the meantime. I took all my confirmations on board with me, and tried to "rebook" to get some sort of benefit, but between the time I booked in the Fall and sailed in January, the rates went up.

The agent onboard said that they could not apply the statroom credit or 10% off to the original price we had reserved - basically that we should be happy with what we have.

Has anyone else encountered this, or have you always been able to apply whatever perks they are offering to the original booking?

Thanks in advance!

No, what you were told is correct. If you currently have a reservation, the 10% off is based on current rates at the time of booking, and isn't valid on bookings already made. So, for you to get the 10% off, you would have had to cancel the reservation you had already made and rebook on board with the agent. Since it seems that the rate you received last fall was cheaper than the current rate less 10%, the onboard agent was correct in telling you that you should stick with what you have.

We rebooked while onboard on our Sept,2004 cruise, and from what we've been told the discount and onboard credit only applies if you rebook while on the cruise. It sounds like to me that the price you had was cheaper than they could offer even with there discount. One option, you could have rebooked while onboard and get the discount and onboard credits and see which packages was the best deal.

thanks for asking! I have been wondering the same thing...can Disney offer me better deal than I already got 6 months earlier??? If yes, then I would cancel with TA and rebook then transfer back to TA...if not then stick with what I got...Right???

The bottom line is that it depends on how much your cruise date is filling up and what has happened with the prices as a result. You can ask for a quote for rebooking while on board. If the prices have not changed, you can rebook while on board and get that discount/perks, then cancel your other ressie when you get home. However, much of the time, the price will have increased such that your earlier booking was a better deal.
