Onboard Presentation?

Is there an onboard presentation for the Disney Vacation Club? If so, do they offer any "incentives" to buy in?

I know on our last cruise (last year) they did have presentations. Don't know if they still do. I remember seeing the DVC guy from the ship at Disney/MGM a couple of days after we disembarked from the Magic.

There were DVC presentations on our cruise last week (8/7 Magic). Check your Navigator for times. There is a $10 per point incentive for buying on the cruise that can be applied to down payment, redeemed as points up front or applied to a future cruise. We went for the down payment option.

FLGalInTN . . . That sounds like a pretty good deal. We have been thinking about buying in. But, I've been looking at points on the resale market.

I'm sure I should move this to another board, but . . . you guys know it all here!

Can someone tell me about the differences in buying directly from Disney vs. buying points on the resale market? The going rate seems very different.

As you can tell from my original post, we haven't bought in yet but I too have been doing a lot of research on buying in. Everything I have read says that there is no difference in buying resale or from Disney. If you buy resale, you even get the welcome packet directly from Disney.

I would like to hear someone's perspective who's actually bought a resale. Have you checked out the DVC discussion forum on this site? I've found it to be a wealth of information.

MamaCrush . . . I lurked there for a bit. Very interesting and educational, but I didn't venture to ask any questions. I think I'm in the stage of knowing not enough to figure out what to ask. LOL.

I thought the going rate for points was around $89 from Disney. Is that right? If so, the $10 discount for doing it onboard seems a good deal. I wonder how quickly the points raise in price???
