Onboard, next cruise discount

Question. Mid level dummy here.
What is the reason for the blackout dates? I'm sure it makes sense but I am missing it.
TIA
Holiday cruises or popular dates. They must figure they don't need to offer a discount.

Those are the dates that DCL feels that they're going to fill the ship anyway, so it's not necessary to offer incentives to book them.

This is from disneycruiselineblog.com

The specific block-out dates for 2017 are as follows: Disney Magic: 4/9, 4/16; Disney Wonder 4/9, 4/13 and 4/16; Disney Dream: 4/10, 4/14 and 4/17; Disney Fantasy: 4/8 and 4/15

I guess I was trying to figure out what holiday was in April. I guess tax day. :confused3

But, you're correct Concierge is not eligible for the OBB perks.

I thought I had seensomewhere that even concierge would get the $100/200 stateroom credit, but not the 10% discount or reduced deposit. Anyone know if this is true?

I have only traveled in concierge once, as a special treat for my wife's 60th birthday (in the Walt suite). I looked at our upcoming Med cruise this summer this afternoon, and saw that there was at least one of the Royal suites available for somewhere around $52K. It is no longer available so I assume someone felt it was worthwhile at that price. That was about 10 times what I paid for a 5 night Wonder cruise in he Walt suite.

My guess is that they are full ships for which they din't need to offer discounts. We went during our kids' spring break. That same break is 4/9 in 2017.

I listed them in this thread earlier. I found them on disneycruiselineblog
It is interesting that this is not on the confirmation. I also do not see the categry restriction on my confirm

So if I book non-concierge Alaska on opening day and later cancel before the PIF date
1) do I get my 250 and the rest of my deposit back?
2) can I get just the rest of my deposit back and still get OBB benefits on a different cruise commencing within my 24 months?

Sorry for all the questions. 3/19 Fantasy was my first DCL cruise. This is all new to me.

If my family has two rooms, can we book two Placeholder rooms? And we would have two deposits $500?

You do get the stateroom credit, but not the 10% discount.

1. Yes, if you book a non-concierge room and cancel before PIF, you get everything back.
2. Yes, you can change your cruise and still keep the benefits. I think you would have to book something when you cancel the Alaskan though, or there will be nothing in the system that shows you have the onboard booking benefits. I don't know if it can revert back to a placeholder.
