I hope this day finds you feeling rested and refreshed. Congrats on getting back to your pre-vacation weight - I'm sure all those workouts and all that water are helping a lot!!
Wish I had some words of wisdom for your job stress and burnout. I know it's something that we go through periodically at my house as well and if I ever find an antidote other than time, I'll let you know. I do think that you're right about a lot of things combining to make you feel uneasy and anxious - post vacation let down, end of summer, school starting - each one can throw us for a loop but when you put them all together it's a struggle. Things will be looking up soon!
Hi Wilderness,
Sorry your feeling those end of summer letdowns . I can't believe it's already August. I'm feeling a little apprehensive myself since ds will be starting school this fall for the first time. Sometimes it hard being a mom, isn't it? Take care, Wilderness.
I know exactly how you feel.I wish I could make you feel better. My only suggestion is to keep exercising and get plenty of sleep. You are doing a great job, and congratulations on reaching prevacation weight.
I can understand your feelings on nursing. My sister and my Mother are both nurses. I also have several friend who are nurses. It's a very demanding career. I've seen them all so stressed out because of their jobs. One friend is studying to be a teacher, she wants to teach nursing. Maybe you could try that.
Boy do I know how you feel. I wish I had an answer for you. I am in the same situation. I am not really happy where I am at, but I don't want an advanced degree. I occasionally think about an office, but the hours don't work right now, and I don't want to take the pay cut. Our profession is hard. It is incredibly emotionially and physically draining, and we get little support. If you ever need to talk, I am a sympathetic ear. I'll be thinking about you tonight.
Beth
wilderness,
Major for you today. Because our car is still broken down, my DH and I have been trading off taking my MIL to work. She is an RN at a nursing home and for the last week, she has come home discouraged and exhausted. It is a very demanding profession and I salute you for all that you do.
I hope that today is a much better day for you and that you get some time to relax. Take good care of you!
I always say I'm going to quit my job and setup a popcorn stand at the mall. Just plain popcorn, that's all. This way if anyone starts to wine that they want something else, I can tell them to leave.
What is it about ICU nurses? Everyone I know is an elitist
@#$%&. Wow, we just have to do the AH recert, actually I am one of the instructors. Ours are very laid back, sorry yours is such an ordeal. Just go and get it iver with, then you won't have to deal with it for another year. There are going to br times when you can't stay OP. Do the best that you can do. Focus on your water today, and the rest will come.
Beth
Wilderness, I'm sorry that you're feeling trapped. I've had similar feelings and my job is no way as demanding as yours. I hope things brighten up for you soon.
I like your goals! We all put to much pressure on ourselves sometimes and it is good to take a break and refocus on what is really important. Good for you!
Wilderness, thanks for your encouragement and support yesterday - it really helped!!
Today I'm throwing a WISH party on the healthy living road - yup, right smack in the middle of the road!! We've got music, dancing, smiles and laughter and lots of great WISHers just hanging out and having a great time! Bring the kids!!
"Celebrate good times, come on!!!"
I love your idea of kicking back and relaxing during these last weeks of summer. You work so hard and a break from any unnecessary pressure sounds like just the ticket!! Good for you!! Our WISH party doesn't have a specific start time so come as you are whenever you can - no pressure here!
